Re: Cruisers Forum Insurance ?

From my recent experience in trying to buy another BoatUS/Geico liability only policy. In 2017 and 2018 I had a 300k policy with all the other usual pollution coverage etc for $179.00 per year for a...

Re: Cruisers Forum Insurance ?

As a good model for ideas I suggest taking a look at the larger healthcare cost sharing networks. I belong to one that has been around since 1981 and has worked very well for me and friends that...

Re: Cruisers Forum Insurance ?

It seems the charter fleet industry and their worthless tropical storm plans may be to blame for increasing our rates. Look at the huge losses they had in BVI and elsewhere. In my opinion they...

Re: SCS PActor modem stopped working

Before sending it in for service if you can find another cruiser nearby to exchange with, just to test, you can definitely narrow it down to the modem. You mentioned meter testing your cable but...

Re: Itís time to give back to the BVI

I was planning to sail to the BVI this fall. Now I will have a higher purpose this time. Would be great if those with time, tools and skills that sail south for the winter can connect and possibly...

Re: SCS PActor modem stopped working

Are you connecting to a new/different PC or have you used it before with same PC?

I'd first make sure the USB driver is good for the SCS. Sounds like the OS is seeing the USB device being plugged...

Re: Multiple antennas at mast head

Personally I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. If you loose the mast or get a direct lightening strike up there you'll have nothing. As suggested earlier I'd spread them around the boat.

Re: Proposed Bill Prohibiting Youth Boating in Florida

This pisses me off on so many levels. This legislator has never exposed his pasty white skin to sun or ocean air. I was sailing in my own sunfish at age 11 which led to a life long career!

Re: Florida marine or contract attorney rec's.

Understand. I used an attorney in RI to consult on a boat LLC. PM me and I'll look for his name tomorrow when I'm not so groggy.

Re: Soft Shackle, I don't want to make my own!

Sort of like asking who makes the best felt tip pen. Just buy the best priced shackles; if they're from a good fiber; dyneema etc you'll be fine and have enough to buy a beer.

Just...
