Re: Calling rock climbing sailors

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycQm_ApCrUI

I used this system with some variation and more backup safety. I used a prusik knot on a climbing rope that I pulled up with the topping lift, (because...

Re: DSC Distress Calls --- I can't take it anymore!

I feel for you bud. Recently I was awoken from my landlocked home at around 3am by a call from Police. Apparently people had notified them of a voice emanating from my boat which is moored 400metres...

Re: Volvo Penta 2003 loss of coolant

If all other suggestions don't seem to provide the correct answer, suspect either a blown head gasket where the water jacket has leaked through to the cylinder/s and thus coolant into the oil, or...

Re: Flexofold 2 or 3 blade folding on oversized 50hp FP Lavezzi

I imagine it wouldn't be the easiest, but there is nothing that can't be done underwater on the Volvo folding three blade that needs doing on the hard. The main regular servicing they require is...

Re: A Cap for Yachting

I think the guy on the right looks the part with this genuine German Navy Cap given to me by my German friends Klaus and Miho. However I'm usually not game enough to wear it in public. I don't think...

Re: Boat is heeling in marina - owner says its ok.

It looks to me like a bent rudder as one can see more of the slight bulb on the starboard side of the keel past the rudder than on the port side. But that does depend somewhat on the photographers...

Re: GPS slow to find position

I had a similar problem with my Raystar antenna. The problem is now fixed because I bought a Vesper Cortex AIS which comes with it's own GPS antenna and now feeds that information to the Raymarine...

Re: Software for remote anchor alarm

[QUOTE=fgrzadkowski;3392973]Hey,

Do you recommend some software (free or paid) that would allow me to set anchor alarm, but inform me remotely (e.g. on a mobile)?

No matter how thoroughly I...

Re: WHAT TOOL DO I USE?

The following youtube link shows a tool for removing gelcoat. Although most applications involve the removal of gelcoat from the hull, it will work of course topside. .The video shows a UK made...

Re: Can someone explain how the AC75 sails so fast?

I think most of the answers I've seen here are on the wrong tack. If you think in terms of energy harnessed in order to achieve a certain amount of work with things like friction in the air and water...

Re: Volvo Heat exchange Problem

more, I had the identical problem on my Bav 38 with the D2-55 heat exchanger. The photos you show could have been my very own. Obviously a design issue. I was fortunate, it was just before Christmas,...

Re: GPS Goes Nuts

Yes, I can understand your GPS issues on the boat. However this was an issue with the GPS system I think, because my old system picked up no signals at all. And the built in GPS chip in the phone was...

Question GPS Goes Nuts

Has anyone else experienced this issue with GPS?

My old faithful Raymarine system does give some start up issues with getting a fix for a while, quite commonly in fact. (I suspect it has...

Re: Going in to get MOB

It's a serious business but it's hard not to laugh at the typo's which gave me an image of a frowning child forced to wear a "PDF" to keep him out of harm's way. I guess he had cause for frowning!

Re: Installing safety netting to prevent cats from falling overboard?

We have never lived aboard, but we frequently have taken our two Birman cats to sea as coastal cruisers. When under way they happily ensconce themselves under the dodger on either side of the...

Re: M25XPB, water and oil mixed.

One thing that may not have been mentioned is that sometimes a fault in the casting or in the design may leave too thin a wall between the water jacket and the oil circulatory system which corrodes...

Re: Help me identify the boat ( Hans Christian 37???)

The amount of sheer, full length keel, and the angle and style of stern and rudder remind me quite a lot of our Herreschoff 28 footer, perhaps a variant of that design, even the coach roof/cabin top...

Re: Replacing Engine Gear Control Parts On A Bavaria 38
