Just for fun, what would you do with a million dollars

Re: Just for fun, what would you do with a million dollars
Let's see....
Let's call it 200,000 for a boat, and another $300,00 for the cruise kitty.
That leaves half a million to split between booze & broads.
Otherwise, I'd just waste it.

Re: What's your drop of choice?
I'm not too picky- mostly it's all good to my tastes. If I had to pick:
On the peaty end, Caol Ila
On the end of the scale that normal people enjoy, any of the Balvenie Doublewood.

Re: First season mistakes (or should I give up before I kill someone?)
You didn't sink, and you didn't die.
It sounds like nobody sank, and nobody died.
It's all part of learning. That seems like a pretty short list for a whole season. Get out & sail more!

Re: Replace Main or Genny first?
Mostly I stick with high end powerboat canvas. Biminis, enclosures, & such. It's mostly 3D stuff. Patterning a basic sail for my uses is fairly straightforward, either in assorted software...

Re: Replace Main or Genny first?
Thanks!
After pricing genoas, I just might build one. I own a canvas shop and have the right machines, work space, and most of the tools. For a main, the savings is minimal, so I'd rather just...

It makes compete sense to replace the genny first. I made some calls... and bought a new mainsail.
A semi-local loft had a new sail that is almost exactly what I would have ordered...

Replace Main or Genny first?
I was finally able to pick up the sails for my new-to-me O'Day 30. As expected (and priced into the deal), the main & genny "sails" are white(ish) traingle shaped rags. The newest of the current...

You can bend a gentle arc by marking carefully and just bending it in a fork of...

I use the Rigid pipe cutter. I own a canvas shop & cut plenty of SS tubing. Go slow, no more than 1/4 turn tighter per revolution.
The ends will be VERY sharp after cutting. Be aware.

I own a canvas shop near Detroit.
Listen to Ann.
For me making the chaps, I'd figure about 10 hours. My winter rate is $100/hour, plus maybe $3 or 400 in materials. This is for "basic" level....
