Re: How old is your boat?

2008Nordhavn, so 12 years old, 8 when I bought her. For me, that is brand new, as most of my boats have been from the 50s and 60s.

Re: Worth Upgrading to Touch Screen Furuno NavNet TZT3 12" Multifunction Display w/ 1

I added a remote to my TZT2 on the Flybridge for that very reason. 4 years later I have never used it because the TZT responds perfectly in all conditions.

Re: Best book for navigating Bahamas/Exumas - 8 day Cat Charter

You can get explorer charts at Bluewater Books and Charts in Fort Lauderdale. They have a good website, or phone them.

Re: Worth Upgrading to Touch Screen Furuno NavNet TZT3 12" Multifunction Display w/ 1

My Nordhavn came with an older NavNet, and I switched to TZT2 when I bought the boat in 2016 I am planning an upgrade to TZT3, along with the new sat compass, and the open array Doppler Radar. This...

Re: Installing a washing machine - which one?

I replaced a non vented Splendide with the vented model 3 years ago on my Nordhavn 43, and I a, very happy with it. It easily washes and dries a set of towels, or a set of sheets and pillowcases.

Re: COLREG 35

I always use my foghorn when running in the fog. The Kahlenberg control doesnít it automatically, but I have never used the horn when I was asleep.

Carbon fiber and lightning

Good Morning All,
I was in the process of making an offer on an epoxy composite, carbon fiber covered, cedar cored catamaran, but she has just been struck by lightning. Obviously, the current...

Re: Good Laptop for Onboard?

I don’t currently have a laptop, just an iPad Pro. My last Mac was stolen at FLIBS a few years ago, and I haven’t replaced it.

Re: Liveaboard Power Cats in the 30 to 36ft range,, are there any?

I think the engine access is from the interior, under the bunk on the PDQ 34. My understanding is that it is a little tight, but we are talking about a 2 stateroom 34 ft boat with a separate stall...

Re: Liveaboard Power Cats in the 30 to 36ft range,, are there any?

For some reason, I think the PDQs are more attractive than the Endeavour cats, but it appears the Endeavour 44s are priced very similarly to the PDQ 34s in the used market, so offer more volume per...

Re: Liveaboard Power Cats in the 30 to 36ft range,, are there any?

PDQ 34 would be a good place to start. $175/250,000. Beth Simkins at Rhumb Line Yacht Sales in Stuart Fl is the expert on those boats.

Re: Etiquette while docked

As a general rule, I think it is best to minimize the amount of light on deck, unless it is for safety. I also object to excessive multicolored underwater lights in a quiet harbor. I sometimes see...

Re: Trying to pick my dinghy poison

I am thinking of an FRib 330 with a 9,9 or 15. I also have a Torqueedo for short hops. Do you think a 9.9 is sufficient for 2/3 people to -lane?

Re: Brass brightwork

On MARIETTE, Tom Perkins has the brass plated in rose gold, which does look very good. Failing that, I would keep a few things polished with Brasso, and allow the rest to go brown. Lacquer Looks...

Re: Will boat prices fall because of Covid

Wether prices fall may not matter if one is selling a boat to buy another one. One may get less for the boat one sells, but the boat one buys would also be cheaper.

Re: Boat for Florida Keys

Have you considered a PDQ 34, power cat with shallow draft and very well laid out for a liveaboard? There are a number for sale currently in your price range.
