It seems the simplest solution would be to write a script that runs at system startup. Let the script wait in a loop until the Linux system clock has a date in this century. Then start OpenCPN....

Dashboard tactics uses the same persistent storage names and old Dashboard. But they are not 100% the same. So when you run tactics then return to dashboard your dashboard no longer looks the same. ...

Dashboard-tactics is quite good. It should be recommended to anyone who thinks Dashboard isn’t good enough.

Yes, a dedicated plug-in for engine data and other non-navigation related data sources (battery voltage, liquid levels, oil pressure, coolant temp, etc.) is the best idea.
