Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

I do the same. Small squares of scrap thin ply or particle board.

But I add a small piece of polyethylene plastic under the ply square to prevent it becoming part of the joint.....

Needs to...

Literally you...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

Yeah, this is my problem right now. Can't afford to build the deluxe poly tunnel, so am going with hoops of electrical conduit screwed to the akas in the folded position, then super heavy duty tarp...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

Phil, believe it or not, I have figured out a way to do a temp pole tunnel, but have yet to implement it. Keep forgetting to buy the conduit 'pole' when I'm at Bunnings lol
It's coming!

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

I agree. My Farrier project fills to around 6" every time there is a major storm here, becasue the foredeck is open and only covered with a tarp, so rain falls on the cabin, runs down to the foredeck...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

Joining the cut off ama back to the wing is the same principle as Phil outlined above. Use butt blocks.
Basically, if you put to pieces of timber together with nothing but glue between them, this is...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

Yeah. Sounds promising. You don't have to use West System necessarily, any epoxy resin would do, as you will be adding epoxy and glass only as glue bond, not as chemical bond, as happens in a wet...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

Is the bottom rotten due to rainwater leaking in past the tarps? If so then yes, you will need to replace those panels, and for insurance probably the base of the C/B trunk. The top loooks like it...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

Not necessarily. Twin 9.9s are a useful size for getting on and off the dock and minimal motoring long distances.
20HPs might be better all round, especially punching into a steep chop or bar...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

It depends. Some smaller capacity motors have Hi Thrust gear boxes and larger diam props to provide higher thrust, such as Yamaha 9.9 T9 High Thrust. Two of these would be more than enough, but one...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

Jim Brown outlines one method of making a 'fuse' for the Searunner mainsheet in his book The Case for the Multihull. Something similar might work for the C/B..?

From memory, it involved a hasp...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners

Yeah, 'pox is a bitch. It gets hard to pour when it's cold, and then doesn't mix easily, but at least the 'working time' is longer. However it also means that it will not go off correctly, or...

Re: Trimaran - Especially Searunner - Owners
