Re: Anchors for Catamarans

When Bryan and I anchor in Iluka bay we deliberately anchor in the shallower areas to leave room for the draught challenged. It also allows better scope ratios.

And two boats that dragged,...

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

It's quite possible Bryan also had dragging problems in soupy mud. That would be in addition to the dragging in firm sand in Wathumba, the anchor settling upside down in sand in Hill inlet, and the...

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

Soupy mud in Iluka bay, Hill inlet and Wathumba creek? Ok, must have been. Never noticed it myself though, but I'm sure you'd know more about where we anchor than i do.

Although other boats'...

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

You're right, of course. But when the facts don't fit in with BB's preconceptions, it's obviously the facts that are wrong.

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

Quite a few straight out lies in this.

Bryan's anchor was NOT upgraded free of charge. I was there, i helped carry the anchors to and from the boatshow stand at Coomera. Bryan paid the difference...

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

O

Either Rex had misunderstood, Bryan, or not been completely honest. The difficult anchoring area is at a friends house in Boonooroo, and the switch to a 30 kg anchor happened YEARS BEFORE the...

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

Stuff always seems to come across more heated than was intended! I tend to simply state facts, not waffle on, which I guess can seem curt.

But yeah, you're right, I should learn to tolerate ...

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

There's always a chance things will become heated when know-nothings accuse people who have spent about 350 nights per year for the last10 years hanging from an anchor of making things up.

What...

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

Short scope? WTF are you talking about? 20+m chain in 1.5 m of water is short scope? On which planet?

I really couldn't give a rat's arse what you choose to believe. Rex called me a liar too....

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

Our sistership has dragged one on several occassions. When we've been anchored close by. They replaced their 20kg Excel with a 30kg, and it dragged while our 20kg bruce held. On that occassion two...

Re: Anchors for Catamarans

I can't give you any long term evaluation of PWB Armagal, as it was buggered after about 3 months!

Two of us bought the same chain at the same time, and had the same experience.

PWB did...
