Re: Beta Test / Technical Route Manager Glitch

To this end I have used OCPN 3.2.2 (importing not as a layer, but as plain GPX into an empty instance and just exporting again).

The question remains, which behaviour is better - 3.2.2 or 3.3.x as...

Re: Beta Test / Technical Route Manager Glitch

The layer file itself seems to contain duplicates of waypoints. Is there a reason for this?

GUID usage in Anchor Watch

With 2.5.0 I have recently ran into a number of occasions where on program start there was an (unexpected) Anchor Watch alarm. Moreover, it was sometimes set on points which I thought are...

Re: Beta Test / Technical

That's how it is... there is a minimum-minimum distance between trackpoints, and if this is not exceeded, only the timestamp is updated. Probably an option setting is needed there. Also, maybe the...

It is the only universally unique method - yes. But convenient in everyday use - no. However, it is just a last-ditch effort to give a name to something that has not received an explicit name - so...

Re: Beta Test / Technical

The UTC timestamp of the first trackpoint is shown in Route Manager, if the track has _no_name_ (default condition).

I was considering to change this to zone time, when implementing some new...

Re: How many digits are needed?

Thanks for replying, I was just wondering...

Are you using the same code base? The recording and display should not be changed in current OCPN, except for Route Properties. I did not find any call...

How many digits are needed?

OpenCPN routine for converting lat/long to text format for display has two variants:

- low precision gives DD MM.MMMM (4 fractional digits for minutes)
- high precision gives DD MM.MMMMMM (6...

Since Dave started work on the currently published patches, I think this should be frozen until a stable situation emerges.
For the really keen testers, I've temporarily put a cumulative source...

OpenCPN crashes when ending empty route (after <delete route>)

Nothing critical, but crashes are better avoided...

1. start OCPN 1.3.6
2. define some route with the mouse
3. delete this route OR delete <all> routes
4. click Create Route tool
5. click...

Thomas,

Thanks for the explanation. Yes, it concerns E-W direction and very short distances. I have nearby a speed-measurement range and the beacons are obviously in place.

I was wondering why...

Accuracy of measuring small distances

I think Mr. Mercator may have a problem with small values.

AIS checksum

I'm not very good at arithmetics, but AIS message type 1-3 is 168 bits long (168/6=28: fill digit 0) and AIS type 5 is 424 bits long (424/6=70,(6666....): fill digit ?) ... I could be mistaken, of...
