And the good news is the Duro river is navigable nearly all the way to the Spanish border.. 200kms.. so you can take your boat up there.. Spectacular.

Life in Portugal is relatively cheap and you can rent a decent place for less than $1000/mth..
Travel around the country by rail is also reasonable so if you have a base for your boat like say Fig...

In that case why not fly her out to the Azores to spend some time cruising those islands together.. there's regular flights to the US on Terceira as the American base there needs changeovers etc.....

Well in 2000 I rented a place in St Martin for a couple of months for $40/night but very much doubt you and the missus would like it.. or the Phillipsburg neighbourhood.
BVI's in 2006 I was renting...
