To be honest I question the costs of $20,000/day for a... I believe was stated a Cessna to carry out a search...
1/ Maybe a pilot (REAL) can quote the range/flying time of a Cessna.. and tell us...

Its a big, very empty and little travelled part of a massive ocean... if they could find no trace of Grain de Soliel and Lady D near the Azores in a comparatively busy ocean... what chance the high...

Having been involved from both sides of the SAR situation... I don't advocate top of the mast... but I do know that until the boat is deemed beyond hope its the safest place to be.. either waiting...
