Re: Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

This is all great info, thanks! I did see Frog Rock on the cruising guide, good to know it's nice in calm weather! Looks like I'll be able to stay in LB during the weekends and head out to an island...

Re: Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

Great to hear! I have a Fantasia 35'. Double ender center cockpit. Heavy, but it does tend to bob quite a bit in swells. I have a flopper stopper though. What are your favorite anchorages? I got...

Re: Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

Good to know, I'm a bit of a purist and only have a kayak. I have a lock for it so I'm not so worried about it getting stolen. It almost looks as if the entire area behind the breakwater is called...

Re: Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

That's great, thanks for the picture! Where did you leave your dinghy when you went ashore? Is a permit needed? This is definitely doable in between exploring the channel islands!

Re: Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

I quite liked Newport Beach, I think I may have stayed near the anchorage. Why does someone always need to be on the boat? Any time limits to how long you can anchor? I have dogs I need to take to...

Re: Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

That's what I was trying to figure out. I know I can probably hop around between Catalina and Santa Cruz, but I don't think I could make it last 7 months. I thought I've met people who live on their...

Re: Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

I have anchored in Hurricane Gulch in San Pedro, it was okay for a couple of days but I don't think I could stay there for weeks or months especially because there's nowhere safe to leave the dinghy....

Re: Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

I did visit Santa Cruz island and got pretty beat up by the Santa Anas so I am waiting until the Santa Ana's are over for the season before going back. I'm single handing so it is just too dangerous...

Extended Cruising in the Channel Islands?

I am waiting out hurricane season in So Cal, but dock are too pricy in San Diego. I can afford a mooring ball at Catalina during the off season, but being that I have 7 months to kill until November,...
