Yup ! two opinions of the same issue. Volvo will void your warranty if you bond them. Yanmar will void your warranty if you don't. Kind of tough for the average guy with a multimeter to see who's...

The critters have no effect on the galvanic cell created by your anodes, they are irrelevant to that part of your issue..
