Cool story if the Seawind was new but it wasn't, that model would be about 10 years old now , would need some work as all boats do and would certainly be out of warranty.

Its pretty simple, I was not a multi millionaire by the time i was 45 so in some areas, compromises must be made if we were to be on the water at 50 and comfort and livability was not going to be one...

Sure but its also about accommodations at the other end and last time I checked 95% of places we go don't have hotels anywhere close and even if they did, at $200+ a night the money runs out fast.

Depends on the boat and engine.
Fast boats run their engines hard and this equals noise, especially if they have Detroit Diesels/Screaming Jimmy's.

Well, even though we have a powered vessel which pir8ped seems to despise so vehemently, you can barely hear the engine running from outside and we no longer drive cars and our fuel usage on the boat...

But its still bugger all in the scheme of things
I run a 14 litre Cummins that takes 37 litres of oil and cruise full time.
Costs a couple of hundred a year in oil and filters.

Plus they most likely had greater comfort, continual supply of cold beer and ice and never had to worry about weight restrictions on the gear they carried.

Filters, belts, impellers will be close to same
Oil might be a bit more
Larger engine may be able to go considerably longer between oil changes
