The seller is a "charity". The low price usually reflects major defects or problems. Although sometime one can pick up a deal from them.

Awhile back I got a 28 foot sailboat from them in very good...

I think we're getting a bit mixed up here. I see people used to buying 100-200k+ boats giving advice to people looking at <30k boats. Two different animals.

Delusional thinking starts when the seller is asking $20k for a project boat which in a Bristol shape would command $40-50k at the most. Most likely way lower.

This seller is not just a dreamer but a raving lunatic. Or simply misplaced the commas in price. $2,750.00 as an opening bid sounds about right.
