Getting in and out of my pen with a full keel sailboat.
Hi
I know there are a couple of post already about this and I have read them, but they do not answer my questions specifically.
I have a full-keeler, a 27 ft Top Hat, very nice boat, great...

Re: Can I get some opinions? Ketch - Australia
The question is why does it have to be a ketch rigged boat? One thing that comes to mind is (apart from the fact that such a configuration is more to handle) that with a mizzen it is much more...

Re: Big engine in small sailboat but not much forward motion
Here is an update: I dived under the boat this week (freezing cold) and tried to clean the prop, with not that much success. It hard to hold yourself down, hold your breath and then start scrubbing...

Re: Big engine in small sailboat but not much forward motion
I do not think it is a fouled prop as when I discovered this I spoke to the previous owner and also the owners before that. They say under engine the boat has always been slow. I assume the prop...

Re: Big engine in small sailboat but not much forward motion
Hi
The boat is a Top Hat 27. Although the Top Hat 25 model is very common (and regarded as very seaworthy), only 4 Top Hat 27 yachts were ever made. I know of one other but it has a different...

Sailboat with a big engine but very little forward motion
Hi
I recently bought a sailboat, which I am very happy with except one thing. When I use the engine there is very little forward motion, never more than 3.5 knots. This is a problem when I have...

Re: Opinion on bluewater sailboat characteristics
If you are not very experienced I would definitely suggest a smaller boat rather than bigger. In fact, in my view most people overestimate the room (including storage) they need on a boat, especially...

Re: 40 year old sailboat with good survey, vs 20 year old sailboat with good survey?
Hi
To me the most important criteria are not about the age of the boat, but what kind of sailing you plan to do. Then you look for a boat that is in good condition irrespective of age, but always...

The reason I subscribe...
