Re: USCG Documented VS State Registered

Re: How did you choose your boat name?

Way back around 1977, in a dingy used book store on Royal Street in the French Quarter of New Orleans I stumbled across one of the most fantastic books ever. It’s “The Oxford Companion to Ships and...

Re: Cost of parts for tiller to wheel conversion

Yeah! Who would want a simple tiller when you can exchange it for something with multiple parts that can break down at critical moments? And besides, who wants all that cockpit space when a pedestal...

Re: How fast does a hard dinghy motor?

Dumbest question of the day....Why not ask:
How long is a piece of rope?
How much does a car cost?

I live in Chiriqui province, Panama, and some of the best coffee in the world is grown on a few miles from my front door. Don't believe it? In 2016 Chiriqui Geisha brought in the highest auction...

Re: crossing panama on a truck

I live in Panama so know the topography pretty well. There is a pretty decent boat yard in Almirante (Caribbean side) BUT it's NOT the place you'd want to haul out and try and cross the isthmus....

Re: Pressure Cooker vs slow cooker without electricity

Re: Dinghy in davits during hurricane

Stow it. Even if you remove the drain plug it's easy for something to plug it. The dinghy will fill up with water, and at 8 lbs/gallon, when full, the dinghy will rip the davits out of the transom. I...

Re: Is a survey worth it for a $13,000 sailboat?

I'd say it depends on how much faith you have in your friend's knowledge of boats and their condition. For short money like that I'd personally check the boat out with a friend and then go with my...

Re: Inflatables V's Tinnies as a tender

Idiots can't puncture a tinny with a pocket knife...

Thieves are more interested in stealing an inflatable than a tinny.
