Re: How long can hard bottom paint be on the hard?

I have SR on my boat and just spoke to the tech. department at Pettit, they told me after 2 weeks the copper can no longer escape the paint. You can leave it out for seasons as long as you prep and...

Re: Bimini made from solar panels?

One thing seems to be missing from all these comments. At the ambient temperature of 70 degrees the average solar panel will produce temperatures around 120 degrees. I am in the middle of a similar...

Re: AIS INSTEAD of radar?

I'm in Galveston and sail single handed offshore (Gulf of Mexico). NONE of the 3,000 plus oil and gas rigs or pipes in Texas waters alone have AIS. Just something to consider.

Re: repowering my sailboat- engine selection

When sailing off shore and the weather starts to get rough and you turn into the wind to reef, inboard prop stays in the water.
Universal is a great choice, they are marine adaptions of Kubota...

Re: Leak into Balsa Core from Deck Hardware

Balsa core is not like plywood. A leak in plywood tends to migrate continually year after year with twist and vibration. Most balsa cored decks (including mine) is made from 1-1/2 inch square end...

Re: Dating for cruising singles?

Re: Dating for cruising singles?

As the song goes; "GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN". I'm almost 69 years old and have been sailing single handed the last 30 years. Unfortunately sailing is ether big wind scary or gentle wind boring....

Re: Fabricating a new Spade Rudder

I was looking at your pictures, it appears you have a fractional skeg mounted rudder (not sure if that is the correct term) but mine is the same. I have a 34 Pearson, and my rudder just broke also. I...

Re: Pearson 36-2

Most production racer/cruiser models built in the last 30 years are considered pan bottom. Unlike cruisers with full keels that have a "V" shape that cuts waves. Unfortunately the "V" shape has its...

Re: Pearson 36-2

Good Morning soon to be Pearson Owner:
I have a 1984 34' Pearson, it's a great single hander and very fast. I hope to live-aboard soon and travel the East, and Gulf coasts. The boat is very well...

Easy 8 Knots

I have been restoring one for the last 4 years, I love it. It draws six feet so I do have to be careful on the ICW but I sail it all the time. The boat is very fast and I single hand it most of the...

Hay Rick: It took me nearly 3 years to decide on an appropriate boat that I will eventually live on. I started wanting something big that I could bring everything that I had accumulated over the...

Unusable Anchor Roller

My anchor roller is too small and unusable. The drum for the roller furler is in the way of the small Danforth that came with the boat. I will be purchasing a new roller to fit my new 22 pound plow....

Do It

I am getting ready to sell my house and move aboard my 34 Pearson. Most of my friends and neighbors know I am a nut. There are two types of people; astrologists who journey the stars from the safety...

Just thought I would stick my 2 cents in here. I live in Galveston and I passed hundreds of these boats on I-45 (the freeway) returning home after our evacuation. They floated there during the...

Sorry no idea of what bid's will be, boat could sell around $40/$45,000 in good condition. I wouldn't pay more than 5 to 10% of that depending on how much you want it. Just a few things to consider,...

Nice boat; if you can get it cheep enough I'm sure you will be busy but happy. Mid 1980's is when many builders were changing coring material from end grain balsa core to close cell foam. If you are...

Slow boat owners say what's the rush

I have been restoring a 1984 34' Pearson racer/cruiser for the past 2 years. I now have less than $26,000 invested including original purchase. It took a full year before I sailed it for the first...
