Theoretically, your polar diagram can show you your boat speed DDW, and also your speed at an angle of aº off DDW. And therefore you can calculate the %age increase in speed when sailing at an angle...

I prefer tape. It does not roll you into the drink when you step on it. But bring it below if you are not sailing the boat for a while because the UV does not improve it.
