Re: Leopard 50 OR Privilege 510

Whichever boat you select and based on personal experience after circumnavigating over 4.5 years we found that 90+% of your time is spent at anchor. A greatly undervalued aspect in choosing a boat in...

Re: Catalina/Beneteau/Hunter/Jeanneau good enough for coastal cruising?

Having circumnavigated in a Catalina 42mkII, crossed the pacific in a Catalina 470 and currently cruising SE Asia in a Catalina 445 I would say Yes they are fine for coastal cruising. Don

Re: Credit Cards when living onboard

Hi Heg, I have used a PO Box since before bankcard for all my credit cards. That includes time away for a 4.5 year circumnavigation. No issues being out of Oz. Even had a replacement card sent to...

Re: US Practice of Deposit with Boat Purchase

Hi Erik,

I went through this a few years ago. While it is a very alien concept to Australians I initially adopted an "as in Rome" approach and paid the 10% of my offer and was then told the...

Re: Coming along

I believe it is the Lianqiao Road bridge over the Jitimen River in Doumen. The pontoons that Mark's Coot is tied to are definitely the ones located at Seahorse Marine's steel boatyard.

Re: Stockless Anchor

Most of the yachts in our club would be using a stockless. We had a manson supreme as the primary on our sailing yacht (and are choosing a rocna for our trawler - both good anchors) but the best one...

The wiring itself is not an issue - 110 requires much thicker wire than 240 - just the 110V applicances.

You can get decent sized transformers that step up/down 240/220/120/110 for a few hundred...
