Black water tank?

I’m in need of the name of a company that makes black water tanks. The previous owner had a stainless steel tank configured for black water storage years ago and it’s now worthless due to corrosion. ...

Re: New snubber line?

I’ve used three strand for snubber for as long as I’ve been boating (1981) with few complaints. Never had it hockle but it sure does stretch better than braid. I went from using just one line to a...

Re: New snubber line?

I’ve got 3/8 inch chain for my rode and would have to lean out over the bow to attach the rolling hitches. I currently use the Mantus chain hook and attach a line to the port and a line to the...

Re: New snubber line?

We moved up to 20 mill since we weigh in at about 23 tons. With the Mantus snubber hook that surrounds the chain and locks on, it’s always done a great job. Any suggestions on manufacturer for the...

New snubber line?

I’ve used 3/4 line for my snubber with a “Mantus” chain hook that locks on the chain. Great contraption but the line that goes around the thimbles that shackle to the hook have started to cut as the...

Re: Through hull.

It’s not a gate valve but a valve thats made of bronze that fits in inside a sleeve that is tapered. Wider at the handle end and slightly narrower where it bolts into the thru hull. I’m trying to...

Through hull.

One of my through hulls has decided to no longer shut off. It’s one of the old style that has tapered sides as the boat is 35 years old. I’ve undone the large bolt that keeps it tight against the...

Hull blisters

Every time I haul out for another hull painting, I find lots of osmotic blisters in the hull. I’ve ground out, punctured, filled fared, sealed and painted over. The next day, more seem to show up....

Re: How do I mark anchor chain?

I gave up painting my chain years ago and have never used zip ties as many of the other boats that I’ve sailed with told me about them breaking. I use 1/2 inch nylon webbing cut to length and...

Line conditioners?

Been away from the US for the last ten years or so but still actively sailing. Every time I go to use a line, it’s always hard due to salt water in the fibers. Has anything, other than fabric...

Re: Slow water leak.

There is nothing in my bilge, at least from the engine and my oil still looks like it should. I’m going to take a shot at the heat exchanger since I had problems with the innards if it getting...

Plastic black water tank.

Last owner installed a stainless steel black water tank and it’s now developed some holes. Anyone have a source for a plastic or polystyrene tank manufacturer? Need to get one ordered.

Re: Slow water leak.

I’ve got a Ford Lehman 80hp. Specs say to keep the water about one inch down from the filler neck. Been that way for a long time. Had to have the heat exchanger cleaned in US Virgins when the...

Slow water leak.

I check my engines systems just about every time I start it and have just noticed that the water/coolant water is not as high in the tank as it normally is. I topped it off and when I check it the...

Re: into storage.

We will be hauling out at Puerto Penasco at the top of the Sea of Cortez in mid June. Dry and hot. Not much rain to worry about other than the occasional hurricane that migh come through but rare...

After ten years of actively cruising, we are finally going to put our boat on the hard for about 6 months and aren't sure on what exactly to do. If one of us leaves, one is still on board but this...

Re: Engine Won’t Accelerate

I’m here in Mazatlan and motored over to the fuel dock at the marina only to run aground in the mud bottom. I put the engine in reverse and the bow slowly pulled around to port. I put it in forward...

Re: Engine Won’t Accelerate

From what I’ve been told, it is the same gear ratio as the old one. They went to the accelerator lever on the engine and when in neutral, it revs up fine but if they put it in gear, it won’t get...

Re: Grease at a hole on Tohatsu 18 2 stroke.

What can I tell you? It's a small round hole on the opposite side from where the lower oil gets changed(left side as you look at the motor from the front).. I've been running the motor far more and...

Re: Grease at a hole on Tohatsu 18 2 stroke.

The hole I’m talking about is on the opposite side of the oil fill hole. It’s right inline with the prop on the lower housing putting it right in front of the prop shaft.

Re: Grease at a hole on Tohatsu 18 2 stroke.

I've been using a 50-1 ratio on my fuel. Smokes likes crazy when it first starts and then goes away. First time I've seen this but it's never since we owned it has been run so long at high RPM's. ...

Grease at a hole on Tohatsu 18 2 stroke.

I've just noticed a small hole on the right side, bottom, infront of the prop that is putting out a small amount of oil/grease when I pulled the motor off our dinghy. It's on the opposite side from...
