That is an excellent way to get confidence. Get recommendations to find a good Captain from whatever sailing school you choose. My husband and I did a week long course 15 years ago...it was the best...

For what it's worth, I just put a xantrex 1800 unit in my Hunter 450 Passage...it works fine. I only paid the $500 and if I have to replace it in a couple years, that's O.K.

Our Hunter 450 Passage has 6'10" headroom throughout but the bulkhead passageways might get ya.

Consider how you will use the boat, also. Buying a boat in PuertoRico or St. Thomas gives you the whole Eastern Caribbean for your sailing ground without the tedious "easting" from say Florida or...

Yes in fact I do...In the barbecue grill on the back of MY OWN BOAT where no one else has to deal with my left over fire pit...or scattered refuse. If a place is beautiful and untouched...leave it...

We cruised the whole Eastern Caribbean for years and never had any problem ar all. We always locked our dinghy with a cable but that was really our only security measure. In my experience, the thefts...

We are a US documented boat returning from the Caribbean after several years. We would like to stay in Florida a while but not necessarily register there. How long could we stay?
