That is an excellent way to get confidence. Get recommendations to find a good Captain from whatever sailing school you choose. My husband and I did a week long course 15 years ago...it was the best... |

For what it's worth, I just put a xantrex 1800 unit in my Hunter 450 Passage...it works fine. I only paid the $500 and if I have to replace it in a couple years, that's O.K. |

Consider how you will use the boat, also. Buying a boat in PuertoRico or St. Thomas gives you the whole Eastern Caribbean for your sailing ground without the tedious "easting" from say Florida or... |
