Re: Humpback Whale hot spots: TAS, NSW, Tasman Sea
Come to North Queensland! We were fortunate to have four humpback whales play with our yacht while moored at Little Pioneer Bay in the Great Palm Group of islands off Townsville. We were a bit... |

Re: Whale Dangers?
Don't worry Pete. We've been a bit freaked out by their proximity to the yacht too. So far they have been completely gentle with us. We had four whales play with us on a mooring at Little Pioneer... |

Re: Anchoring Restrictions Horseshoe Bay MI
Yes. I attended a public meeting about this at Horseshoe Bay two weeks ago. Essentially the commercial tourist power boat and jet ski operators want an exclusion zone around their operations... |

Re: Controlling mold
Have you tried clove oil? It kills the spores and stops regrowth and makes the boat smell nice. I had to give my boat a good dose of it when I returned to Townsville this year after the February... |

Re: Live aboard in Australia
G'day Simon. I've lived aboard for ten years now, mostly in Townsville, but up and down the coast more recently. The marina here charges a levy to live here, plus electricity monthly. |

Re: How much chain for cruising Qld Australia?
G'day. I'm on an Arends 33 (monohull) and carry 60m of 10mm chain which at 4:1 gives me a maximum anchoring depth of 15m. We found that some anchorages up here require us to anchor in 9-10m because... |

G'day mate, I keep my Arends 33 in Townsville most of the year and feel your pain. Annually I give the topsides and deck a light acid wash, then hand polish over several days with 3M Marine... |

Re: Tacktick T120 - Wind direction problems
Success. The T120 has returned from Raymarine with an update to the software and now it points to the wind accurately around 360 degrees - no need for calibration, so for me it's been a happy... |

Re: Only Six Months -- Feeling Cramped
I started with an Arends 33ft monohull and have lived aboard for nearly five years now, although I've owned the boat for 11 years. When I purchased her, I would have laughed at you if you'd said... |

Yes Mike ... I had to package it up and send it back. This is the second unit from the same box that has had to be sent back within weeks of installation. The first problem was a dodgy display... |

I had the same problem. There is a software fix. Send the unit back to Raymarine. I'm waiting for mine to come back fixed. I'll let you know how I go :/ |
