I used a tester from Napa that fits over the coolant filler hole and indicates whether there are combustion gases in the coolant. Mine was positive so I removed the head and took to a maciine shop...

Took our small trawler from Anacortes to Alaska; Sitka, Juneau and points in between. Had autopilot hooked to GPS and used A/P 90% of the time. Nice for compensating for many current changes to stay...

I had a Yanmar 3JH2E, in my Pacific Seacraft 34. Same issue. In addition, to remove the impeller, was next to impossible as it was behind the alternator and just in front of the starter....very poor...

Have done that route in my Gemini. No issues. Indian Town and LaBelle are good stops. Labelle is free and quick walk to town.:smile:

I have a Yanmar 3JH2E. The space between the impeller cover and the starter is 1 1/2". The impeller is 1 1/4" wide. Combine that with very limited access and it is a great example of very poor...
