I had a tenant bring a dog on a rental property and bit a child, I was sued for $850k. Totally understand manegement decision on this. Victims family didn’t even name tenant in suit.

Re: Pushing the budget

I have been frugal my whole life out of necessity but now I don’t need to be with the kids grown, but it is ingrained in your personality. I still buy older cars, boats or Rv not because I have to...

Re: Hoping to Cruise the Florida Keys

I did it a few years ago in same boat and only touched bottom in one place. Hit the scetchy parts a little before high tide. Marathon to key west is no problems. We found if you get stuck leave it in...

Re: Tipping

I worked hard most of my life in service related work and never made over $20 an hour. I did it because I enjoyed the work and making the community better. I never got tipped nor was expecting it. Am...

Re: Tennessee Tombigbee Locks single handed?

Depends if you are willing to let sides get bumped on the walls. You are going to need a midship cleat and loop it around bollard with just a little slack then be able to go up or back down deck...

Re: Doubling Up Mooring Lines

Speaking of mooring balls I had an interesting problem last year in the st Augustine Florida mooring. I had a new bridle made which was too long and had loops on the ends and the boat spun around the...

Re: ICW Ft Pierce to Jacksonville?

I second aqua maps and bob423 tracks and you will have no problems. I wouldn’t do any icw with over a 5 foot draft without it.

Re: Navigation on a Tablet Question

Just finished the great loop on our sailboat with new ray marine axiom chart plotter which uses navionics. I used the iPad with aqua maps 90% of the time.

Re: How long would you feel comfortable leaving your boat on anchor

We spent last 2 winters in Sarasota and marathon on the gulf side and there were many boats anchored that I never saw anyone on then one day they would be gone. I’m assuming owner came back to boat...

Re: Running the engine to charge batteries - gear for load or no gear?

I don’t buy into that theory. . Look at the millions of semis idling all night in all the truck stops and rest area around the world. If it was that bad they would find another way to keep ac or...

Re: Opinions on route from Marathon to Key Biscayne please.

I went thru on inside in April with a 5.5 draft sailboat in fair weather and bumped in one spot on the whole trip. It’s very doable.

Re: Proper way to use mooring ball?

I was at that marina and used about a 10 foot bridal thru pendant which ended up being to long. Ball drifted down side of boat and boat went over ball and came up on other side of boat behind keel....

Re: What can you run off a portable generator and shore power?

We run a 12,000btu ac but only one thing at a time. Turn off water heater and charger when at anchor if running ac. We get about 6 hours ac on a tank of gas on a 85’ day and 70’ night

Re: yanmar engine oil removal

I second adding a little new oil when extractor quits sucking old oil out. Ours was black as soon as I started engine with fresh oil because of the left over oil. Add some fresh oil when done sucking...

Re: Largest cruiser that can go on a trailer at a boat ramp?

Maybe a seaward rk 32 would fit the bill. I agree with previous poster that raising mast is more of a limiting factor. My biggest trailerable sailboat was a Capri 26 and it was a rigging challenge...
