I bought a new Garmin VHF and a Garmin AIS in 2014. None of them worked for a long time and both were sent for repair. Garmin confirmed both had failures and they sent me new units under warranty....

The keel base is easy to check, just take away the aft most floor boards in each guest cabin and look with a flashlight. I think this is a common problem as Pier12 already had the plans...

The 170W panels are 12.8kg (28 pounds) each (and not flexible). I have been investigating a bit more about how to secure them to the stanchions and found there are several ready made solutions...
