Re: Outremer 49

Also worth comparing apples with apples in terms of materials...Outremer poly/vinylester vs GForce Epoxy. We recently saw two GForce 15 cruise models underway at a yard in cape town that are just as...

Re: NEW 47? ok, nice, but what's the diff' ??

last time I checked vessels out of class have no plimsoll marks. Without this there is no real way to determine overloading without a draft survey (which requires hydrostatic tables and calibrated...

Re: Choosing a cat

This is really interesting. Could we find out which area of the rig their position above is there to protect? I assume its not the chainplates, therefore it must be the mast itself. They don't...

Re: The sexiest Catamaran ever?

The trick to understanding the effects of 'reverse' bows (the term does muddy the waters somehow) is not to think of them as a plumb bow raked back, but instead imagine them being a plumb bow with...

Re: Helm positions

Exactly. They also pretty good for long distances too and the point here is to urge anyone who is remotely interested in them to do themselves a favour and go out and spend some time on a boat with...

Re: Helm positions

Yeah it does sound like you have a good one. Which one is it? In the past we've had issues with some brands slipping on the lazy side.

"Screw you guys I'm going home"....sound familar?

Still going on about Australia when Australia was not mentioned once by me in regards to this, although I mentioned the US several times. (You...

Re: Helm positions

There are heaps of builders out there who do very well building smaller numbers of boats ranging from small custom cats to mega yachts. In fact the most profitable builders of recreational vessels in...

Re: Helm positions

I don't recall saying the clears blew out. I said we couldn't see through them and they were beginning to take strain anyway so were taken down so they wouldn't get damaged, which by the way is what...

Re: Helm positions

Actually, twin outboard helms allow for a much more open and uncluttered cockpit as well as better visibility forward from the cockpit (due to a window being where the helm would be on the bulkhead )...

Re: Performance 50-55' Cats: Outremer vs Catana vs Swiss Catamaran

Light displacement 16.45 with a laden displacement of 17.5...bloody heavy for a performance boat of that size. And only just over a ton of payload? The numbers seem odd....

Re: The Evolution of "Condomarans"

As an aside, the goop referred to earlier to bond bulkheads is called 'Plexus' and most (if not all) the large production builders are using it now. I don't think the lagoon 440 used it as it found...

Re: Schionning Owner Feedback

Re: Gunboat International sues Chinese boatyard

Re: Gunboats coming from South Africa...

And herein lies (part of) the rub...a LOT of cape town based suppliers to GB still tell how they were left out of pocket when GB 'shut down' in SA and ran off without settling their bills. Some took...
