Re: 1998 Catana 38-41 for £150k - what's not to like? vs younger Lagoon 38-40, FP 38-

tana, yes, I'd dismissed that previously as too old, I was thinking end 90s, but maybe I'll look. As you say its not far. How many berths do you have? I need 6 (4 kids). Rear heads can mean fewer...

£150k is about usd240k which I think is just enough for these options...i'm in the UK but will buy anywhere I have to! Tamif 27, why do you prefer the older catanas?

Re: 1998 Catana 38-41 for £150k - what's not to like? vs younger Lagoon 38-40, FP 38-

That's the point of the thread, category4jay. Lagoon/fp at 5-8years of age, or a 1998 catana. Please also note, £150k, not usd150k.

1998 Catana 38-41 for £150k - what's not to like? vs younger Lagoon 38-40, FP 38-42

Classic scenario. My budget's still £150k. The requirement is still for family coastal cruising, maybe some blue water down the line. I thought I'd be buying a 5-8year old Lagoon/FP/Leopard out of...

Hanse 47e

Comments appreciated from owners. What made you buy one? Who else did you look at? If you chose another boat over Hanse, why?

Buy A Boat Straight Out Of Charter - Why Not ?

Opening a hornet's nest here, I know.

5 Reasons against, in no order, and without thinking for more than 5 seconds:
1/. No decent spec means you'll need to upgrade all systems for 'proper'...

Re: FP 40 Lavezzi vs Leopard 40/42 for £130k-£150k

That's not a safe assumption. Some of the premium boats (Privilege) have a heavier layup, but with production boats it's often just more furniture. Saving weight costs money, but alas, it doesn't...

Re: FP 40 Lavezzi vs Leopard 40/42 for £130k-£150k

Thanks Muskoka, great post. Don't want to get too wrapped up in cores; buying at 5-7 years old I'm already at the mercy of the reputation of the manufacturer and the surveyor I use. I've seen the...

Re: FP 40 Lavezzi vs Leopard 40/42 for £130k-£150k

Teeto - such as??? I drool over custom builds such as Schionning, Chris white, etc., but did you read my budget?
Interested to hear of who you mean, if they're in my budget.

Re: FP 40 Lavezzi vs Leopard 40/42 for £130k-£150k

Hi Ausaviator
OK, let's eliminate the Lavezzi. Even if what you say is not right, I hate that galley. Keeping the Leopard for now, what else to look at? Bigger FPs also foam core (which also...

Re: FP 40 Lavezzi vs Leopard 40/42 for £130k-£150k

OK, so a disagreement already! All good, thanks fellas!
I appreciate the comment about balsa cores, and there are a lot of people on these pages that seem to hate them; but so many great designers...

FP 40 Lavezzi vs Leopard 40/42 for £130k-£150k

On a budget of £130k-£150k, want a multi for family and space and (as perceived by me) safety, for coastal cruising and possibly blue water down the line.
Realise that the budget gets me a 5-8...

Re: Bridgedeck Clearance on 43' - 47' Leopard

Thanks all. May be fair to that that it seems that the older Leopards have the lower clearance but the modern model (the 46) is much, much better? The first of these are now just coming out of...

Re: Satellite Communications - Inmarsat FleetcBroadband

Thanks Mr Gregl
Sounds as if you work for Addvalue! That said, I guessed that the price difference was in part at least due to the fact that Thrane & Thrane are so well established in this field,...

Satellite Communications - Inmarsat FleetcBroadband
