Re: Panther Outboard Mounts

Had one like that for many years, with a Yamaha 9.9 High-Thrust.

Only trouble getting it to go up and down was accumulated salt/corrosion making it bind a bit.

Re: Balmar max charge 612 for any alternator?

Re: Newbie Here - Hello!

Our 28,000 lb (loaded) Nordic Tug 37 is not even a full displacement hull. With 330hp, it can hit 16 knots, or high cruise at 12 knots. We just completed a 3,806 nm cruise of the Inside Passage....

Re: CBP Roam app- Check "Yes" or "No"?

Not having read the question carefully enough, I responded NO this year, coming back into Washington from BC. The officer was not happy, and grilled me. Then they inspected my boat and confiscated...

Re: Splicing stiff nylon to chain

Re: Anchors for the PNW/BC: San Juan and Gulf Islands

I've had genuine Bruce on three different boats cruising the Inside Passage. I switched from Bruce to Rocna 12 years ago on my second boat. It was immediately obvious that the Rocna set quicker and...

Re: Two Anchor Swivels

Agreed. We had a Kong, attached directly to the anchor. It bent from side loading, much like the picture above, and would easily have broken if we had not noticed the bend. My boating buddy's Kong...

Re: AGM as house Bank

In two boats over the last 20+ years, I've used AGMs for both house and start banks. They work well if not often left in a partial state of charge. One set lasted 11 years.

Re: 4 weeks Alaska cruise / camp - Where to start if you have a trailer as an option?

Hi Enyar,

We’re mostly power boaters, but may be able to offer some helpful info. We’ve traveled the Inside Passage in many different ways, launching trailer boats in Bellingham, Gold River,...

Re: Start engine with AC battery charger on?

On two different boats, I've had a Freedom 10 and a Freedom 25 inverter charger. On both, I've started the diesel several times with the charger going - no problems.

Re: It’s getting cold out, now what?

Here's what I do to leave my Nordic Tug for the winter in Liberty Bay, Poulsbo WA:

No anti-freeze. Full water and fuel tanks. Block off engine room vents with 4" foam insulation pipes. Open all...

Re: Provisioning : There and Back Again, or, how do you get the groceries onboard?

Here's another plastic cart, maybe 50% greater capacity, and with bigger wheels. Had the above pictured blue one, and this is a good bit better.
I've used it to haul groceries for 6 summers on...

Re: Not sure if my boat has the proper windless

Clean the rope with detergent, letting it soak for at least several hours, and agitating periodically. Soak to rinse in water, agitating again. Finally you might lay it out and blast it with a hose....

Re: Problems maintaining Lofrans Tigres windlass

Hi Grace,

I'm at Liberty Bay Marina. Live in Utah, but should make over to Poulsbo to prep for another summer in BC and SEAK by late April.
