Re: 60' Charter Cat; Moon Dragon rescue
Uhm... apparently, it only took 35 knot winds and 10'-12' seas to cave in "safety" hatches, flood it and capsize it. Can't imagine what a hurricane would do to it. If you're saying it couldn't be... |

Re: A new adventure begins.
I think you can be proud of the way you handled yourself. You stood in court and accepted your fate. You said you're paying off the clean up bill. Picked yourself up and made things happen in your... |

Re: The New Joke Thread
Looks like good design practices to me. I'd need an asbuilt survey and on site inspection without the shirt to be sure she was built to plans. |

Clipper marine 30. The 30 gets posted with request for identification a lot for some reason. |

Re: Buying my first boat, the short list...
I've got a few hundred miles on a Pearson 34. It was not really set up to single-hand and I never did. Really, the only thing you could do is route the main halyard under the dodger and it would be... |

Re: FREE, or close to free!
That needs to be quoted for the comedic value, we don't want to lose it when the ad gets deleted. I wonder if the "guy" stole the winch handle? Ad says.. "condition:*good* length overall... |

Re: HEY ALL YOU SCIENCE GEEKS!..
I'm absolutely great at navigation by paper chart when I'm close to land with all the channel markers and visual references. It'd be tough to find a sailor that can match me in the ICW or Chesapeake... |

Re: The New Joke Thread
I call those dead plant reproductive organs. The wife no longer wants them dead, she wants something still alive that I, yes I, have to either put in the ground or keep them in the pot and water... |

Re: Month 32 Expenses of Cruising and Living on the Boat
You're doing it wrong. You need to take about 70% off the sundries intake, pal! Oh, yeah, I'ma troll! [emoji857] |

I'm in no rush, and if you see a needier dock neighbor, see if they want to try it. |

Re: DelMarVa loop – 30 June 2019
Bump. You were supposed to give me your old autopilot! What happened?!? Just kidding. No big deal if someone else ended up with it. Good luck on the Delmarva. |

Re: Stolen Dock Line
My first apartment was, uhm, on the wrong side of the tracks, let's say. You didn't have to haul anything to the dump. You simply had to leave it outside, it would disappear. Didn't matter what type... |

Re: FREE, or close to free!
Hhhm. I never considered that type of conversion. It'd be a little heavy and tough to launch on a ramp, but it would be a stable setup. My truck is a shortbed Titan that can't pull a typical fifth... |

Re: Wauquiez 42PS Interior? Similar boats?
The jeanneau 45ds has something similar and, used, is priced well below $300k. A couple of smaller Ds models have that type of layout, you can pick from them, too. I also like these particular... |

Re: Who has run into a floating container
It's not denting the keel you have to worry about. It's forcing it back and up into the boat that kills a boat. Busting up all the keel structure and shearing bolts is major damage, fairing a dent in... |

Re: Who has run into a floating container
I, too, have seen a pole between Chesapeake Bay and St Maarten. It was floating really high with little to no growth on it. Must have been fresh. I upped my watch game after that. |

Re: Moving to New Home Port
I'd probably go Cole's point marina on the Potomac. Nice and protected. Right across river from Tall Timbers marina which has the boat burning party every holiday, I guess they still do that. I... |

Re: Budget Be Damned
He's already said he doesn't include the boat's value, considers the purchase money spent on it lost and doesn't consider it an asset. This makes sense to me. His numbers can loosely apply to any... |

Re: Budget Be Damned
The lenders should really tighten up their qualifications. My wife alone, on her VA disability from service connected injuries, pre-qualified for $359k. That's way too much, lenders obviously don't... |

Re: Sun Loft 47
Gah. That doesn't look like a comfortable boat at all, unless you like laying down all the time. The interior is nothing but berths, heads or standing room. On my list of what not to buy or charter.... |

Re: Million dollar catamarans
Yeah, I'm not incredibly worried about his future self and being able to live without aid. I swear, I think he can read and spell at 4, but doesn't speak English, just gibberish and little of that.... |
