Re: 'Clicking' Noise That Moves Around Boat

At First Sight...five years ago, while docked at New Smyrna Beach, FL, I heard the same crackling.....searched lockers, cabinets, the bilge...nothing. But when I flushed the toilet, the noise...

Re: Dragging anchor alarm on handheld GPS

We've been using iPhone app "Anchor Alert" for about a year now. Yes, with GPS running it's a power hog and is kept plugged in all night, but must draw less than the big Chartplotters.

Re: How Often Do You Dismantle / Check Raw Water Pump ?

An earlier post referred to an Impeller Puller. I first saw this puller at the Annapolis Boat Show but felt the $40 was too much. After struggling again to get the impeller out by levering dental...

Re: Island Packet 35 or 38 owners honest opinions.

Charbonneau is an IP 40...not exactly what you specified but very similar performance wise. I generally agree with the earlier posts. If the wind is around 10 kts, I get 3kts forward and since I'm...

Re: Learning to Sail on Your Own Boat

Hello Jill & Brian...My wife and I did exactly what you are contemplating. We sailed for 45 minutes on my son's 31 footer and said "this could be fun!". Within three months we closed on a beautiful...

Re: Delivery Captain Rates?

When the Delivery Captain I hired realized I had no experience, he immediately put me on the helm and was "instructing" me for the next three days. His price was $250 per day and I gave him $1,000....

During the winter of 2010/2011 we moored at Marathon for 10 weeks. We enjoyed the facilities but did learn from Richard, the Dockmaster, that the town fathers simply see cruisers as a supplement to...
