Re: Lithium to power thruster

I will easily concede that LTO cells aren't any more dangerous than LFP but they are pretty hard to work with in a 12V environment. 6 Cells in series means a voltage range from 15V to 11.4V. Pretty...

Re: Lithium to power thruster

Mere mortals aren't going to be playing with LTO cells. (Nor should they be)
Most of us shouldn't even be playing with raw LFP (LiFePO4) cells but if you understand some electrical basics it can be...

Re: Strange behaviour at 3.4V always a different cell pack shoots up to 3.55V, rest 3

Nice Set up! I wish I had your attention to detail.
It wasn't the Chargerys fault for melting.. I managed to put the whole setup underwater for about 4 months. The Chargery literally dissolved...

Re: father/son seeking ocean passage (will donate $10,000)

Is it me or are way too many people planning offshore passages in the fall and assuming that countries are going to open up (or still be open) to tourists again?
My boat is stuck at the bottom of...

Re: LiFePO4: charge bus, load bus, buffer battery

My solution was to use as many parts that I had before LiFePO4 which included a Bluesea ACR. If I'd started from scratch I might have done it more fancy with a Victron or Mastervolt integrated bus...

Re: Boost Pump Recommendation please (Watermaker)

Temperature of the pump is one thing I've been lucky (or unlucky) enough not to have to consider. I am in Chile where the water temp is around 5-10 deg c and air temp is similar. My watermaker uses...

Re: Alpine Butterfly for Jib Sheet?

I wholeheartedly second the issue of having a single sheet setup with respect to removing it in an emergency.

Re: Boost Pump Recommendation please (Watermaker)

Whoops... I got the part numbers mixed up.
The original system spec'd a Johnson CM90 which is similar to the Jabsco 50840-0012. Both pumps run in the $300-400 range and flow around 25-30 GPM. ...

Re: Boost Pump Recommendation please (Watermaker)

Both are pretty...
