Re: Oil for Danfoss BD50 compressor

WOW, so pleased we only got your KISS version Richard!

As I stated previously quote: "Overheating of a hermetic compressor is a result of an improperly engineered system or one that has...

Re: Converting from water cooled to air cooled refrigerator

Could be the way it was intended but maybe not!! Can you picture the system and post here along with any brand, model numbers etc and while I may not recognise what you have there are others here...

Re: Converting from water cooled to air cooled refrigerator

Not sure what you mean Andrew, can you explain some more about your 'goes off' problem? Maybe we can help.

We manufacture both air cooled only and air / water cooled condensing units and the air /...

Re: Another Fridge Rebuild

Interesting project Raymond and good to see the pics.
Not wanting to try 'teaching grandma how to suck eggs' but do you have some way to prevent cabinet cold air loss through the drains?

Also...

Re: Adding Refrigeration (KISS method)

Not a marketing plan Richard but a process for selecting the correct system and one that is 'fit for purpose. This plan as presented in post 1, is applicable to all product brands and is aimed at...

Re: Oil for Danfoss BD50 compressor

Overheating of a hermetic compressor is a result of an improperly engineered system or one that has been incorrectly repaired / serviced. Operating correctly these compressors do not have an...

Re: Adding Refrigeration (KISS method)

You can say that again Richard!
Following the Refrigeration Industries practices and protocols is obviously the only simple and proven pathway as described in post 1.
Refrigeration physics and...

Re: Convert Freezer to Refrigerator?

Yes Jerry, it will work fine, the controller simply switches the compressor on and off so it doesn't care what type of evap you have.

Re: Convert Freezer to Refrigerator?

Good point Stormy, but I doubt the plates are eutectic. Far too thin and more likely are stainless wrapped cyclic evaporators.

Regards digital controller, suggest an Elitech STC type. They are...

Re: Convert Freezer to Refrigerator?

As suggested, replace existing thermostat with a digital controller then you can set cut out and cut in to what ever you want and you have the bonus of temperature readout.. It's a no-brainer as...

Re: Oil for Danfoss BD50 compressor

Yes it gets confusing! Suggest going to a refrigeration wholesaler and advise them of the refrigerant you use (most likely R134a) and the compressor model etc. They should be able to help, and may I...

Re: Refrigerator Box insulation rebuild, Isotherm 2351

Hi AV, Yes they are standard at 12VDC but can be supplied to power up from 12, 24 or 36VDC and 110 or 240 VAC with priority automatically to higher voltage present.

And @MicHughV wouldn't it be...

Re: Refrigerator Box insulation rebuild, Isotherm 2351

Raymond, the core problem here is that there are NO TX valve orifices small enough to correctly suit these micro compressors simply because there is virtually no demand for them.
Contrary to...

Re: Refrigerator Box insulation rebuild, Isotherm 2351

Richard, any 'engineer' that believes in using capillary to throttle back a TX valve, needs to return to engineering hamburgers at Macka's!
The idea is totally ludicrous but I think you know that...

Re: Refrigerator Box insulation rebuild, Isotherm 2351

Surely this is a joke?
Doesn't anyone promoting this have any idea of how a TX valve functions?
Really!

Re: Understanding the variable speed refrigerant compressor’s performance

Good idea Bowdrie but the low draw reported indicates a bit short of gas (low return gas volume) which as you know restricts compressor cooling. Perhaps a visual as to how much the evaporator plate...

Re: Understanding the variable speed refrigerant compressor’s performance

Depends on the ambient temperature, condensing temp etc as the
high side condensing temp can be as much as 20C higher than the ambient. Generally a compressor temp of 50 to 60C is not an issue....

Re: Refrigerator Box insulation rebuild, Isotherm 2351

It is...
