Re: Bahama sailing newbie

I have no real interest in sailing, but it’s my plan. Couldn’t care less about sailing itself. Just about getting to the new places in a relaxing manor

A means to an end.

Got a boat that is...

Re: Marina Corporate Buy-out? Alternatives?

My city just built a new 350+ slip marina. New main building with showers/laundry/lounge. New dockage, new fuel/waste pumps.

Great Lakes area though. Fairly cheap. Paid 2200 for 40ft, including...

Re: Charging LFP dropin questions

I have a very very similar setup. With mc-614. My firefly’s are toast now. So I’m dropping in lifepo4’s this spring.

I’m going to be setting the alt regulator to a lower charge voltage. It’ll...

Re: Double Mast Demasting @Sea

I hear it all the time. “Always have back up of everything, even the mast”

My masts have no rigging at all, so would have to be a very specific fall zone to take out both.

Re: Double Mast Demasting @Sea

I didn’t catch the reason why, or if they’ve done a thorough look around to figure out yet. I’m sure their main concern is getting somewhere safe.

Guess their 2 masts were connected though with...

Re: Arco Zeus Alternator Regulator Bench Test

Yeah, every where you look the experts are saying to always have an AGM and then put a 30amp dc2dc charger to charge your lithiums. Then what was the point of the experts saying a while ago to get...

Re: 2 stroke vs 4 stroke outboard

They have a booth at the Toronto boat show, so I’ll try and ask if they know anything when I go for a few days.

I haven’t decided on what to do between a 9.9 (or 9.8…) vs something like a 6. I’m...

Re: Torqeedo 2 Cruise - Early Model

The more you wait, the better electric motors will get. And more options for companies.

Just got to balance out what you want vs when you need it.

Re: What do you use your SSB for?

It’ll either die with the people stuck in the age before global comms or new one will start with the new age of sailors with more constant connections.

Even with Starlink and it’s competition,...

What camera are you using and do you leave it up for storms? Has it performed as you thought?

I want to put one on my front mast of a cat-rigged boat in order to see where to go in shallow waters...

Re: One of My Victron 50/100 is most probably toast, is it really?

Have you tried a complete reset, and reflashing the firmware?

Other thing I’d check is the actual wiring/crimps into it.

If you have enough slack, cutting a new connecting shouldn’t be too...

I...

Re: Pearson 40 for first boat? Thoughts?

Well yeah, the magic of seeing the first number a 4 makes them impossible to learn on.

Luckily I just squeaked in after buying my boat this year with 0 experience at all. It’s 39ft… but that isn’t...
