Re: HH 44 by the Wynss

Sunpower Maxeon flexible panels are probably the one exception out there as far as durability from walking damage. Their cells are copper backed and have a lot more resistance to cracking. That's why...

Re: HH 44 by the Wynss

I work in the solar industry. I can tell you that "micro fracturing" cells is a real issue. Biggest cause is hail causing invisible damage resulting in millions in lost production and insurance...

Re: Charging 24V Lithium via a 12V to 24V buck converter from a 12V alternator/starte

Re: Best Reviews on YouTube.

I don't think putting in hundreds of hours of work to create content by a Youtube creator is "getting somebody else to pay for their lifestyles." Reality is that for most creators, it is not the...

Re: Factory vs After market options

We chose the Seawind 1370 for the following reasons:

1- Timing- we have a few years before the kids are off to college so the long lead time on the Seawind actually worked perfectly for our plans....

Re: Factory vs After market options

We also looked at the Leopard 45 and put a deposit on a Seawind 1370 instead.

That said, the options list is similar and did a fair bit of research on it.

Here is my take:

First evaluate...

Re: Battery production costs are dropping, why not street prices?

I think prices are dropping on Lithium quite a lot. That said, just like Energizer AA batteries as Walgreens will 2-3X the price of a 48 pack at Costco, name brands will be trying to hold on as long...

Re: New Purchase Discount, does it exist?

Not sure what RONA means. Return On Net Assets??

The only crapshoot for me is that I'm committed to buying a Seawind or I lose my deposit. I can delay my slot or switch to another model. If I...

Re: Thoughts on buying used SCUBA gear

Here is my take as a recreational diver (rescue cert) that dives both cold and warm waters.

1- A lot of today's regulators use the same parts on the inside. Not talking about regs for cold water...

Re: New Purchase Discount, does it exist?

Couple other things to consider on new boat pricing:

1- Boats from South Africa are not subject to 1.5% import duty into the USA due to AGOA. Other countries are 1.5%.
2- Our contract locks in...

Re: New Purchase Discount, does it exist?

We just put down a deposit on a Seawind 1370 and can tell you with confidence that there are no discounts. Commissioning, duty, freight and other costs are significant and you need to be really good...

Re: Good youtube channels for cat cruising life?

My wife and I joked that if we created a youtube channel, ours would include lots of arguing about setting anchors, "discussions" about weather, and debates about inviting certain family to join us....

Re: Lowest Cost Place in Florida to do a Refit

Better not go to the BVI's since their murder rate per 100K population is 2X that of Guatemala.
