Re: Puerto Rico Marinas Recommendation

I highly recommend The Yacht Club at Palmas Del Mar, Humacao, PR. We cruised out of there for the last 18 months and really enjoyed it.

Re: non-charter sailing Catamaran builders

You might be thinking of Anteres Catamarans. I haven't seen that manufacture listed here yet.

However, the only catamaran manufacture that I know builds specifically for a charter company is...

Re: How long do you run your watermaker?

We run our Spectra 200T for about 8 hours every 5 days to top off our 100 gal. tank. We run it during the day and let the solar top off the batteries at the same time.

Re: Why do Leopard owners not use this site

All Leopard Catamarans are made by Robertson and Caine, but not all Robertson and Caine manufactured Catamarans are branded as Leopards. Thus, naming the group Leopard would leave out the other...

Re: Lagoon's Big Bimini + enclosure sufficient?

To the OP question about keeping rain out of the cockpit, we had custom curtains / enclosures made for just that purpose. We had the full enclosure on our first 450 and never used it. If you will...

Re: Maximum size for dinghy / rib on Lagoon 450

3.5 meters fits nicely. If you are buying a new 450 their dinghy package is very nice. It is a Highfield 3.5 meter with a 20HP Honda 4 stroke. We have the Highfield with a console and a 40 hp...

Re: T-mobile in USVI info desired

T-Mobile is terrible in the USVI! We had AT&T for many years and only switched to T-Mobile because of their Global Access plan with unlimited text and data in over 140 countries! Apparently it was...

Re: New Leopard 40 vs Lagoon 42 for blue water

A note on the desire to add a water tank: I suggest cruising for a little while before adding a tank. We have the extra tanks on our Lagoon 450 and with just the two of us onboard most of the time...

Re: Annapolis Boat Show: CF Roundup

I'll be there in the Lagoon catamarans. I'll watch to see where and when the group decides to meet and join you if I can. Stop in and say hi.

Re: BVIs to St. Martin - Guadalupe - Martinique

Alec,

We'll likely be making the same passage at about the same time on our Lagoon 450 and my wife certainly prefers to skip that passage. Maybe our wives can fly ahead, we sail one of our...

Re: replacing original lagoon mooring rope

The OP asked what lines were supplied with the Lagoon 450, not what do people suggest they use.

'How do you choose a GENSET?' I placed a check in the box on the option sheet when ordering our boat.

Re: anchor bridle length

So if each leg of the bridle is 2.5X the 14 meter beam that's 35 meters or approximately 105ft. And if he anchors in 10ft of water with another 5 ft up to the bridle attachment points with a 5:1...

Absolutely an awesome anchor. Never slept better. Sets the first time, every time (so far ;-)). And a lot less expensive than some of their competitors. But I bought it because I believe it is the...

Re: Lagoon 400 - Gelcoat colour match

I recently had some gellcoat work done on our Lagoon 450 and I asked what they do to get the right color match. They said they use white with a touch of yellow and a touch of gray. They use the same...

Re: How good is the Rocna?

In my opinion the Rocna is close to on a par with the Manson Supreme and both are better than most other designs, but neither is as good as the Mantus.

We absolutely love our Mantus. We keep a...

Re: Tipping line handlers...What's realistic?

+1

We can dock our boat and tie the lines without assistance in all but the worst of conditions. If we see a boat coming in we offer to help.

We recently had a line-handler UNTIE our spring...

Re: Lagoon 450 Ice Maker

Here is a picture of our installation. We also installed a dedicated 1200 Watt inverter so the ice stays frozen rather than melting when you don't have AC power from the generator or shore power. ...

Re: The New Lagoon 450

The flybridge was a MAJOR factor in our selection and we wouldn't even consider a catamaran without it. We added a large hardtop built to my design and it makes it so much nicer. An added benefit...

Re: Should we or Shouldn't we buy Lagoon 380 or 400?

We owned a 400 for a couple of years and enjoyed sailing her. The helm seat leaves a lot to be desired and the high freeboard causes her to hunt at anchor or while moored. We've sailed 380s and I...

Re: To spend or not to spend(all)

Blackduck,

There is a lot of good advice in the replies that you've gotten. As an owner of a Lagoon 450 who single hand sails her frequently I'll just add a few comments.

Visibility from the...

Re: Powerball 1.3 billion

I would buy a Yacht, which I define as a pleasure boat that is big enough to land a helicopter on it. I'd have full crew and a shadow boat for the security team. Oh, and I'd have a Gunboat G4 on...

Re: Size of your TV?

We have a 32" mounted in the salon that lowers into the cabinet which is 20.25" wide. Seating is about 8 ft back from it. Then we have a 24" TV mounted to a swing-arm in the owners cabin. It can be...

Re: How do you sleep at night on a mooring ball?

We had a mooring come undone at the anchor screw. Now we don't trust them unless I dive on them and thoroughly inspect them. I sleep much better with the proper scope of chain and our oversized...
