Re: Any early retirees turnerd cruisers with big careers have regrets?
I’m glad you raised this as I’m planning to go from UK. I’m 50 in 2 years and I’m getting ready. I’m still undecided and there are so many things I want to do which are within reach now I’m working... |

Re: Is sailing dying?
Sailing in the UK is just too expensive. Our marina has more boats for sale than not. Also the others rarely get used. It cost £6000 a year to berth and £1500!to winterise. More and more people... |

Re: Global catastrophe / SHTF "survivable locations"
We’re from UK and we have a growing belief that a global event is on the horizon. We are in essence over populated. My family have a disaster plan. Where to meet etc. My thoughts are to head for... |

Re: Hole in motor behind starter on Volvo Penta MD22L
I had something similar. The crank case had been leaking and the guy before thought it wiser to knock a hole in to let the starter solenoid stay dry. It was on a bmc Commodore. I’d replaced the... |

recommendations about books to prepare Yachtmaster exams
This is not an answer but more my own experience. I did the Yachtmaster exam with a course a few years back. The marina offered the course at discount. I haven’t the miles yet for the practical. I... |

Ahoy!
Hi Dave. I’ve got a Samson C-Spirit. Are those fenders any good. My boat, Amber Sands crushes fenders as though they are paper. [ATTACH] Also what engine have you got? Nice boat by the way. Jase |

Re: Ferro Cement for Dreamers
Yes you’re right. I met a senior construction engineer last year on the marina. He told me they take 50 years to properly set and 50 years to deteriorate. Ours was built 1972. And she’s been... |

Re: Full Keel Sailboats
Yes I’d agree with everything above. I’ve got a full keel boat. Out at sea she’s great. In a marina with tide and wind - absolute nightmare. It took me a while to understand that you can’t just turn... |

Re: The ideal bluewater cruiser on a budget
We had the same thought about buying a boat. I don’t know the costs of stuff in US but here in the UK we bought a boat for 5k. Four years later and 30k GBP later she’s nearly ready. By the time... |

Re: Ferro Cement for Dreamers
I’ve owned a Samson 40 C-Spirit for the last 5 years in the UK. I was wary at first on buying her but I wouldn’t swap her for a grp. Yes you can’t sail in a F3 but when the other yachts are bouncing... |
