Re: Perry Polaris 43' cutter rig for sale east coast
I like this boat. So much so, I recommended a friend buy it. I’m happy there are no liens. The yard is an excellent place to do work yourself. Under no conditions would I have the current rigger... |

Re: CAS or "Chainplate avoidance syndrome"
I’ve never welded titanium and i have no intention to start learning because i have seen exactly how difficult it is to avoid oxygen embrittlement. I’m not the only TIG welder who feels the same.... |

Re: Perry Polaris 43' cutter rig for sale east coast
This is a really nice project boat. We went onboard her this year. There are several issues. The vessel has been sitting without care for a long time. The machinery will need a lot of work. It’s a... |

Re: CAS or "Chainplate avoidance syndrome"
It depends got it right. Why not bronze. It’s what the turnbuckles are made from. Yes...it would be a safer world if boat riggers had to pass tests like aircraft guys. I’m all in favor for that... |

Re: temporary fixing of dyneema
What about one of those metal braid Chinese finger trap things electricians use to pull cables. They look like the cover of a double braid with a loop on the end. Maybe it will just pull on the... |

Re: Freestanding mast opinions wanted
Bruce King had a wishbone ketch as his personal yacht. Not free standing spars. I don’t like wishbone booms but only because they can’t support a manatee crew as a hammock. That didn’t stop my... |

Re: Kayak drysuit for diving the hull?

We had two Dometics ...the largest and next size down. They ran for a year then died. No help from the Dometic guys. Waste of money. |

Re: Freestanding mast opinions wanted
TPI knew how to build a really strong vessel. The sail boats they built for the Navy Annapolis school were ballistic. The sea trial was in a full gale. The mast testing story would take pages to... |

Re: Thoughts on this Koopmans 60?
We’d add some way of getting back onboard by yourself. Bimini or you’ll roast. More comfortable cockpit helm seat. Buy a lot bigger anchor. |

Re: CAS or "Chainplate avoidance syndrome"
Let’s start with the worn cutlass bearing. It’s attached to the transmission. So let’s guess replacing it takes 2-4 hours at $100/hour plus $100 for the part. So $500? And a new transmission costs... |

Re: Hypothetically....if I wanted to build a hurricane mooring....
A photo of what you want to use would help. I’ve got a Fortress 120 I could sell you. Some 1/2” chain and some Kodiak crab floats and you’ll sit out almost anything. The real problem after that is... |

Re: Broke from mooring, stuck on sand, now what?

Re: Broke from mooring, stuck on sand, now what?
There are several issues here. First, it looks like Florida. Yes? That means Law Enforcement. Next, where you landed. Very expensive neighborhood. I don’t think you see things from their side... |

Re: 200 ton USCG captain, looking for work
Here are some choices other than the oil field which I’ll comment on last. Private Yachts. Lauderdale. Easy hire. Incredibly boring work. You work for horrible wages and very rude people. Huge... |

Re: Main Cat Crew Rescued Off Oregon Inlet NC
