I have a horseshoe life ring on the end of a ten meters floating rope attached to the pole.
Never used it nor did I ever broadcast a Mayday on my radio transmitter.

First undo the cable gland at the actuator, “ram”, to prevent twisting the wires inside the ram, sometime hard to do.
Second unscrew only the portion that contains the motor. It is possible to do it...

They will hunt and should not be allowed to do that.

The control unit will disconnect if the ram is over loaded.

Changing the position of the ram attachment on the tiller may reduce possible...

Gm (Detroit) used to supply emergency ship generators in excess of 100 hp with an emergency manual centrifugal starter.
The starter provided no sweat easy start of the generator.

My experience is that people that forcibly bury their anchor are more likely to loose it when the going get going and that I prefer a controlled dragging than loosing the anchor.
