Re: Jeanneau Sun Charm 39 (1989 ) opinions anyone?

Hi. Picking up on a post from 2018 - you were asking opinions on the Sun Charm 39. Did you buy the Jeanneau? How has it worked out? I am also looking at a couple of Sun Charms for sale from 1990-91 -...

Re: Marinas in New York City

We stayed for a while on a mooring at the Richmond County Yacht Club on Staten Island. It’s well protected and safe. Technically, it is New York City, albeit in the borough farthest from Manhattan....

Re: Selling a US Flagged Sailboat in England?

No easy answer to this one. A lot depends on who your buyer is: US citizen ? UK resident? Third-country national? Private individual or company? Your assumption regarding VAT is incorrect; you could...

Re: Mediterranean to Australia via Suez/Indian Ocean

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my earlier reply, but I think it would be very unwise to attempt an Atlantic crossing before November. You would not enjoy the NE trades to carry you across, and there’s...

Re: La Rochelle to Caribbean in April/May

Here’s another option. If you need to get out of The EU for reasons of COVID and Schengen regulations, head down to the Cape Verde Islands (stopping in Atlantic Morocco and the Canaries on the way),...

Has anyone here experience with dismasting a boat, loading onto a truck in Holland (or other North Sea coast), and delivering to the French Mediterranean?

Re: How To Run Halyard Inside Mast

A variation on the above. . . ,

You get a length of plastic “strap” - the type that’s used to secure cartons around big and bulky items from the store. Feed it into the bottom of the mast and...

Re: Survey or not to survey

I can think of one thousand reasons why a survey is a necessity. Here’s a quick anecdotal one . . . ,

A friend who is knowledgeable about boats found a catamaran he liked in Greece. The owner was...
