Re: A call for mod action and user restraint
So my 2 cents for what it's worth.
I read CF less and less not because I sail less (I sail more) but because of the poor moderation. I hate the politics, I hate the thread drift which is rampant,...

Re: Vaccine Certification Restriction of Travel
You mean HIV not Aids or don't you understand the difference?
HIV is a very different virus - it replicates extremely fast (in under a day) and also reproduces different copies of itself each time...

Spot on and like the line " Vaccines cause Adults".
There is a lot of rubbish posted on this thread - people claiming the vaccine doesn't offer any immunity or protection and that's just...

Overnight Paprec hit something - serious damage to one foil.
At 0820hrs UTC this morning, ARKEA PAPREC hit an unidentified floating object. The collision caused serious damage to the starboard...

Re: Northern Europe this Summer
Yeah counting the number of tests doesn't make much sense. I've had 4 tests in the last 7 weeks (all clear!) but had none prior to that. We're just doing a hell of a lot more testing and so comparing...

PRB is, sorry was , one of the lightest of the Imocas. They went all out to make the hull as light as possible. Plus they did hit something earlier this year and did some damage to the hull which...

No rescue yet. LeCam made contact but lost him in the swell and couldn't regain anything on the AIS transponder. The other boats have joined the search.

Re: Jules Verne Trophy
Gitana is returning to Lorient. Hit something and damaged a rudder and foil but also they felt the weather wasn't perfect for an attempt. They will go again later in the winter.

Yep. Always better to sail to your conditions and not watch and react to the competition all the time.

Yeah you can't do that in the U.S. I lived there for a long time and it's a different mentality - which goes a long way in defeating this bloody virus.
I was outside a big store in Dublin a couple...

Re: Northern Europe this Summer
It's masks, hand sanitizer, keeping distance, reduce your travel, stopping large gatherings etc.
You put them all together and it appears to work. There is no single magic bullet.

Correct. In Ireland , at least where I live, everyone is wearing a mask. You will always get some groups that either don't care or don't want to comply, but the majority do.
Was in a local shop...

Gitana/Edmond de Rothschild hit the start line in 18 knots of wind.. and immediately hit 40 knots of boat speed!
Insane (but I love it).

Re: Cameras for sail trim
Most if not all the MFDs (B&G, Raymarine, Furuno etc) can all display camera feeds. You can get cameras and stick them anywhere on the boat but keep in mind you may need lighting for use at night.

Re: Starlink Beta Users HELP
The current setup is that the user terminals don't have any knowledge of where the sats are. There is no orbital map pre lpaded. They switch on and start scanning and searching until they find one.
