The 97% completed Opti hull gets to experience its first tropical storm. The biggest risk is being hit by a falling tree limb. First of many, I have no doubt.

Oh yes. He has already named the boat, drawing graphics for the hull in his sketch book, figuring out how he is going to go to school (starts Monday), go to football practice, and work on the boat...

Hull; seams glassed, faired, sanded, 2 clear epoxy coats. Daggerboard thickness reduced to meet spec, stop battens made of white oak. Daggerboard and rudder shaped, stained, and epoxy coated....

Turned the hull, epoxied the Daggerboard Trunk, mis-cut trunk repair, and seams. Monday we fiberglass the seams and fair the hull.

As I've said before, it's being built to class specifications. With that said, being a class boat is so far down on the list that watching epoxy dry is higher up.

All the major wood components are epoxy and/or glassed in. The gunwales and gussets are cut in, epoxied, formed, and sanded. The interior has its first sanding. Turning the boat tomorrow to start...

The grandson went solo and glassed in the midship bulkhead to the sides, with a little guidance. Epoxied in the daggerboard trunk and used oak for the reinforcement blocks to the hull floor....

The floor is 1/2” plywood. The first picture is a frame that the hull is built upon keeping everything with the proper curve and orientation to each other part. This is a classic wood & epoxy build....

Day 2; CNC cut and hand-sanded the remainder of the 3/4" material. Rudder, Daggerboard, forward and aft transom reinforcement, and mast thwart.
