Re: Cheap Tablet for Open CPN

Many of the inexpensive Lenovo tablets have built in GPS and run Open CPN well. I have one I use on my boat during races as a large SOG speedometer. It's in the cabin visible from the cockpit...

It works fine on my Pixel 6a phone with Android 13. You have to migrate the charts.

Re: Power Tool Brands - Accessibility

It depends on how and where you're going to use the tools. For personal use in the U.S., the Ryobi tools are hard to beat. A huge selection which all use the same battery. If I were using them...

Re: Ships Station License and MMSI

The Boat US MMSI is not international. I got my FCC ship's license online through the FCC website. It has my MMSI. There is a fee.

Re: DSC Handheld VHF Question

In the U.S., Boat US says either. If you are a Boat US member, MMSI numbers are free from them, but the numbers are not valid outside the U.S. If you are in the U.S and plan to use the handheld on...

Re: Can Anyone Identify This Traveler and Track?

I recently replaced a similar traveller with one from Garhauer. The difference is like night and day. I sent my old track to Garhauer and the new track's holes matched my old track's holes exactly....

Re: Spare halyard - full run or messenger?

I had a messenger for my second spinnaker halyard made of nylon parachute cord running inside my mast and a crew member caught it with his foot, tripped and broke it. It took three trips up the mast...

Re: 1980 Corsair Cruise-A-Home

I'd start with local boatyards. You might also talk to people who work in motorhomes and mobile homes. Not many sliding doors on other kinds of boats. A good handyman could probably do what you need.

Re: 1980 Corsair Cruise-A-Home

I live in a floating home on the Columbia. It is built more like a conventional house.

I don't think the CAH has the necessary "bones" to put much money into. Are you talking about cosmetic...

Re: 1980 Corsair Cruise-A-Home

Do you plan mainly to live on it or do you want to travel? I don't think it would be good on the Columbia. The current can be three knots in the Spring and the CAH could be a real handful to handle.

Re: 1980 Corsair Cruise-A-Home

A CAH is essentially a motorhome on floats. Is it on the Columbia?

Re: 1980 Corsair Cruise-A-Home

You can find people. Unless you do it yourself, it's going to be expensive and you're starting with something that may not be very good when you're. Where in the Northwest are you located?

Re: AIS starting from scratch what's best way to go at the moment?
