Re: Bilge Cracks Leaking Seawater

Yes there is core below the water line, but the cored section does not wrap around the bottom of the hulls. Bottom is solid glass.

Re: Bilge Cracks Leaking Seawater

The boat is solid glass on the bottom of the hull. The cored section starts up the sides of the hull.

Re: Bilge Cracks Leaking Seawater

To update this thread.

Boat has been repaired, by reglassing from the inside. No issues, even after some hard sailing.

The Leopard 40 and other Leopards of similar vintage are designed with...

Is there a name for this windpattern in the gulf?

I assume it's caused by the presence of mountains. It seems to appear on a regular basis based on my anecdotal observations.

Re: Bilge Cracks Leaking Seawater

I think, based on my research so far, the most likely explanation is that the yard dropped it too hard on the starboard side when moving the boat.

The boat was sitting on the hard for the past 6...

Re: Bilge Cracks Leaking Seawater

Upon further research, it looks like the keels are mounted on a solid laminate stub. For water to get into the boat through there, either the stub is damaged, crushed or something, or the fibreglass...

Bilge Crack Leaking Seawater

Has anyone seen this on their Leopard 40 (https://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2758580#post2758580).

Bilge Cracks Leaking Seawater

This is on a 12 year old Leopard 40.

She just went in the water and a day later salt water is seeping through in the bilge. There is a longitudinal crack in the bilge about 3-4 in long, right over...

Re: Dinghy davits bolts rusted

See the pic attached. It's outside looking at the underneath of the cockpit floor. The structure is fairly thin in that spot and there is no penetration through the floor. So this is screwed into...

Dinghy davits bolts rusted

This is on the underside of a cat cockpit floor. There is a fiberglass dinghy davits setup with these rusty bolts holding it in place. The floor above is solid, so I am not even sure what they are...

Re: did my anchor slip? GPS attached

Stu - how are you getting 1m accuracy on your phone? What's your setup please?
I am using a Samsung S7 and best built in accuracy is 4m-8m and it swings wildly constantly, sometimes up to 26m.

Re: Help analyze personal inspection findings (3 of 5) - chainplate alignment

Here is the starboard side, it has the same setup. Also note the shorter shroud has been replaced with a Stalok fitting.

How much of an issue is this? ThumbsUp did you happen to be there when...

Re: Help analyze personal inspection findings (3 of 5) - chainplate alignment

To be even more clear, you are correct that the 2 on the right in your message are of the same boat as I attached the wrong picture (below is the one that was meant to be there). The two on the left...

Re: Help analyze personal inspection findings (3 of 5) - chainplate alignment

Thanks for the responses guys.

To be clear, these are 4 different boats, same make, similar years and models, which is why the setup looks the same.

Re: Help analyze personal inspection findings (2 of 5) - rudder corrosion

Leopard 40 catamaran rudder. I don't think it's steel, I think the outer shell is fiberglass(?).

Re: Help analyze personal inspection findings (1 of 5)

I believe you are right in that they have a sacrificial keel. I am worried about how pronounced that border is, and whether water is getting under there. Basically is it supposed to look like that or...
