Re: Experiences Hempel Globic 9000 Antifouling?

I got here on a search to see if my experience with Hempel Globic 9000 was similar to others. I rolled on 3 coats last hurricane season, splashed in late November, and 6 months later I'm seeing...

Re: Test new kind of antifouling, silicone based

Slings don't have an edge to initially get under it. YouTuber Zatara used it as well and ended up removing the majority of it with a pressure washer. Just get under it and blast it off in chunks.

Re: Test new kind of antifouling, silicone based

Spent a fortune doing Magic Antifouling (which you can no longer buy BTW) and can't wait to get it off my boat. I saw Brian from delos on the dock the other day and he seemed pretty happy with the...

Re: Help/Warning Eno oven is worst

If you don't belong to the facebook FP owner's group (there are two, the one with the stern of a Helia for the cover photo is more active) you definitely should. There are several discussion threads...

Re: Help/Warning Eno oven is worst

That's what the guy at Force 10 told me as well, but when I got the new orifice, I could see a slight difference in the size of the hole. I believe this was due to differences in regulator pressures...

Re: Help/Warning Eno oven is worst

What model/year is your FP?

The orifice is only accessible after removing the burner assembly. It screws into the end of the gas pipe that remains in the oven after the burner is out. The orifice...

Re: Yanmar 4jh4-TE 75hp vs Volvo Penta D2-75 (or D2-60)

Yanmar makes tractors too. I just ordered a rear main seal (my fault it failed, long story) for my 4JH4-TE from the local cub cadet dealer.

Miami show - Cruiser's University

I couldn't get to the Annapolis show, and there were a few courses I would have liked to take this year. I looked on the Miami boat show web site and while it had an Education section, I couldn't...

Re: Sailing With paying guests?

My understanding of the US law is that any payment, whether cash, or buying fuel, or any other boat related expenses, technically becomes a charter. With it comes the compliance with USCG licensing,...

Re: Macerator Pump Short

Very likely the pump is jammed, and a motor that's unable to spin will blow the fuse. Check this first.

If that doesn't work, disconnect the positive lead to the motor. If it still blows the fuse,...

Re: Best tablet for offshore navigation

No specific recommendations. The Sony tablet I use is out of production, but I can tell you why I chose it, and the same would hold true if I were shopping today.

Waterproof. You're using it on a...

Scarlet, I know we've talked before on CF, and you hang out at Perry Yacht Club, but I can't put a name and face to you. Anyway, welcome to big boats.

I went through much of the same issues with...

Re: Microplastics in the sea

Municipal services are not a redistribution of wealth. They are services rendered for a fee. Military defense contracts would normally result in hardware being delivered to the military.

What...

Re: Microplastics in the sea

Not long, or drawn out. Just ask the people at the top, and they'll tell you what it's about.

Re: Microplastics in the sea

If you want to see how bad it is, have a look at Tony Heller's YouTube channel. Unlike most, he doesn't try to re-do the science. He merely points out where they changed the data to fit the narrative...

Just think how great it would be if all the Billions of dollars spent annually on the non-problem climate change would be spent on the actual problem of plastic waste.

Of course the problem with...

Re: Did I have to give way? Plus short-long blast.

I would have ID'd him on AIS (you do have at least a receiver, don't you?), then gave him a call on 16, communicated how I was going to avoid him, whether that be ducking him or tacking, and asked...

Re: Catamaran tacking angles , really that bad???

I have a condomaran, and yes, they're pretty bad upwind. Like others have said, how bad is a function of several variables, including the skill of the sailor.

My particular condomaran has very...

Spring $1000 for a Purple mattress and cut it apart. They're supposed to sleep much cooler than most. Then you can tell us how it all worked out.
