Re: Looking for Info on Lofrans Tigres Gypsy #276H

Re: Savannah ICW Closing

Just past through there, a day or so ago. Demolition of the old bridge is active. Still open, in the end it will be great. One less bridge opening to call for.

Re: Transmission cable broke - I had to go analog!

Had this happen a few months ago. The pin at the end of the cable froze up in the shift lever, could rotate. When I applied pressure it broke the threaded part of the cable. Had to remove the shift...

Re: Sell house, buy boat or vice versa?

I found my boat, made an offer, signed the contract which was hand written on a piece of paper. Sent the deposit check in a week or so. Sold my condo roughly 2 months later. Used part of the condo...

Re: Are the cuts in the Bahamas really that dangerous?

I never, never, never go through a cut without having sail up. Preferably full sail. Usually engine running. Sometimes engaged, sometimes not, condition dependent. Having sails up gives you options...

Re: Island Packet: the right boat for remote voyaging?

I think the Caliber 35 is a skeg hung rudder.

Re: Annapolis boat show 2023 for used sailboat shopping?

A few years ago there was a used area in the basin off Saint Mary’s, that has been eliminated as far as I know.

Re: Best hurricane holes in the Bahamas

I would agree, GHC marina is about the best you’ll get. I’m anchored in the Bay of Five Pirates as we speak. I stayed at the marina last year for a couple days. Very protected, great staff.

I’ve...

Re: Inline Water filter?

Totally agree, the Seagull water filter system just works. Filters aren’t cheap, but there are a couple of companies that make replacement filters that are a bit cheaper.

Re: Annapolis to NYC delivery

C & D Canal at night is a cake walk. I would agree with boatpoker, the Cape May canal requires a spotlight, but heck if you’re transmitting anywhere at night in close confines you should be using a...
