Thank you Pete for the info. The cooler is obsolete from Yanmar so I hope I can find a welder. Water may have seeped
in between elbow and manifold gasket. I'm not quite sure if it's a 500 hr type or...

HiSeas Boat Docks

I'm considering purchasing a HiSea Modular Boat Dock/lift for one of our berths
and having it shipped from Zhejiang, China to Port of Oakland, CA. Does

When installing a new bearing, use Dow Corning High Vacuum Grease on
outside of bearing and you will never have a problem again. Not cheap
but highly effective! :)

There is a lot of 40-42 older boats on the market that make great cruiser/live aboards
with loads of equipment for a good price. You'll learn to sail it just as well as learning
on a smaller boat....

Lots of nice protected anchorages between SD and Bodega Bay where I'm at.
I'm 73 and have done this trip many times. You seem to hit it lousy at some
point along but there is always a place to set...

Why a new boat? You get so much more in a used boat. I bought a new boat
then spent a fortune in equipment. I still have my 1978 boat, however, if i was
to do it again, I'd go used!

Yamaha hands down. I've had a 2.0 hp for 4-5 years now. Always
reliable, light and tough. There is a reason they're the prime choice
of third world countries.

I've been using Dow Corning High Vacuum grease now for 29 years
on everything. I even use it on the packing for the shaft gland with
not a drop of water and stays cool for extended periods of use....

Fill it or you might get condensation which will grow algae
that lives on water surface and feed on the diesel. Biobor
will kill it but will clog your filters if bad enough.

Noise and vibration sounds like a worn out cutless bearing problem. Had the same problem when I had a flexible shaft coupler.

Remote starter switch (if you have one) or Control Wire on solenoid
and positive on battery. I put a pig tail on control wire for easy access. :)

Thank you for your reply...I measured the bank just before leaving
and The DVM voltage was 12.87 volts with all 4 12V batteries.

I forgot to add that after removing battery cables I measured
+12V again across the bank, so all batteries are up to charge.

Oddball Starting Problem

I went to the boat today to start my Yanmar 3JH2E in my DownEast 32 and
experienced these starting symptoms:
Battery bank on "All" with +12V across the Bank.
Turned the key and heard a fast start...

"Lester" in 1992. I had a Danforth 50' of chain then CQR plow
with 150' chain and 50' of rode. We rode out "Lester" well trough
