Re: Bruce Roberts 35ft steel ketch
Yes, Bruce Roberts himself will answer to emails regarding vessels that were built with his designs. Send him an email if you are not sure about something. |

Yup, I notice this too. I definitely recommend going for the single serving sachets of yeast to anyone thinking of doing this, rather than a larger packet. |

Re: Bread Making on board
Ah, I guess I skipped over the part about freezing them. I thought you were just talking about half baking them to make them keep a bit longer then baking them when you need them. I'm dubious about... |

Re: Adventure and disarmament
Ok grandpa, well fyi, that kind of emote is exactly what someone who thinks they are being self righteous would use. But if that was not the intent, then fair enough. I respect the ocean, and... |

Re: Bread Making on board
Yea, that's a good idea. In a lot of places you can buy them like that - they keep for a couple of weeks, and are pretty much as good as fresh once you bake them. Never really considered making them... |

Re: Adventure and disarmament
Yea, well if you could also stop hand feeding them fish that would make it a lot easier on us spearfishers ;) Reducing their fear of humans isn't good for either of us. |

Re: Adventure and disarmament
Well it was a good thing I wasn't caught. Though in my defence I didn't know. Also, he started it, tried to steal my fish and bent my best spear. |

Re: Adventure and disarmament
Shark also tastes like chicken. It also makes very nice steaks that don't break up like chicken does, so is good on the bbq. Is a little bland without seasoning though. |

Re: Adventure and disarmament
I definitely recommend learning spearfishing. Really good for getting you in shape, and sure beats sitting around with your rod in your hand waiting for the fish to come to you. ;) I'd like a... |

Re: The New Joke Thread
A bassist walks into a music ship and approaches the guy at the counter. "I'm thinking of branching out, learning a new instrument." "Ok sir," replied the clerk, "What did you have in mind?" "How... |

Re: Trying to pick my dinghy poison
This is a good point. I don't have scuba gear, but I free dive and spearfish, so the ability of the craft to haul yourself back into without capsizing it is also an important factor. |

Re: Bread Making on board
Yup, of course "the right texture" is something you've got to learn for yourself. But working up to it slowly while kneading the dough is the only way to do it - the same proportions that haven't... |

Yup, I'm using just a Sevylor 2 person for now after the last dinghy finally died. Building something like the pic I posted soon hopefully. |

Re: Bread Making on board
To be honest, my gf is the one that makes the bread, I only make deep-pan pizza dough usually. It's pretty painless, get the yeast started, mix up the flour and a little salt (no need to measure,... |

Re: Boat as my main domicile documentation
I was going to say - buy a bigger ice box - but then do you even need one in Alaska? ;) But yea, the whole thing is kinda dumb. That's the problem with being a minority like a liveaboard, they don't... |

Re: Adventure and disarmament
Bows are ok in most places, and spearguns and fishing bows I have never heard people have problems with. Crossbows are more difficult. But laws vary from place to place. In the Bahamas for example... |
