Re: Evaporator plate accumulates los of ice regularly
We’re living aboard along the Queensland coast. I upgraded to. BD50 as well. There’s always some ice in ours. What stopped the freezing was adding a 12v 50mm fan on the chill plate. And adjusting our...

Re: Budget freezer boxes anyone? Experiences?
Hey Franziska, we live aboard 24/7 cruising the Queensland coast. It’s hot here! We bought a cheap 25L freezer around 18 months ago. We also bought the zip up insulated cover with it. I added some...

Re: Bavaria 42 Fuel Gauge and Sender
On my BAV44 I can test the sender by using a multimeter. The sender is a 180 Ohms unit. If you can use a multimeter and read across the two terminals on top of the tank you’ll soon know if the sender...

Re: Your favorite anchor app for your phone.
Hi Dcondit,
Anchor! has a 100m marker on the top map border. But more usefully the top right corner show bearing and distance to the anchor, nice you drop it. I’m often out of wifi & cellular range...

We’ve also been using Anchor! by Pomacanthus for years now. Living aboard and cruising 24/7 means we rely on it. Tried a few others, liked this best. Able to change safety distance, move the anchor,...

Re: Bavaria 42 Fuel Gauge and Sender
I have a Bav 44. My fuel gauge also failed. The sender unit is a simple float that changes the resistance. 180 Ohms sounds correct.
Turotuss made my original gauge. They are available in Europe....

Re: Ideas to stop corrosion in aluminum heat exchanger?
A cheaper solution to replacing the aluminium housing, is to have it welded and machined. Had mine done twice now. Spare parts pricing on Volvo’s is horrible. Welding is cheap.

Re: Any tips for reducing frost/ice build up on cold plates ?
Couple of things worked for me.
A) as above, stop moisture getting in.
B) add a small PC style fan. 50mm 12v works wonders. Fridge temp evens out. Fridge uses less power too.
C) put a drain in the...

Bavaria 44 3 cabin boats have very large forward owners cabins. The bed is a diamond shape. We use king sized sheets and have our pillows at the bow. Lots of room.
