Re: Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube...water?

The best way to refill the drivewith lube is to pump it in from the bottom of the leg until it reaches the proper height in the header tank. If you don't you'll get air bubbles that take a long time...

Re: Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube...water?

Brian, it is possible that the shaft is not worn or has very little wear and can be polished with a very fine sandpaper like 1000 grit. I have a couple friends who put new seals on prop shafts that...

Re: Quicksilver High Performance Gear Lube...water?

Quick Silver high performance gear lube will absorb upto ten percent water and will smell like rotting seaweed ( long before it changes color)when mixed with seawater. Catastrophic failure of an sd50...

Re: Rigging a symetrical spinnaker on Leopard 44

Something else to think about: we don't raise the mainsail when using our sym spinnaker on our Lagoon 410 but we do tension the topping lift and main sheet to offset the forward pressure on the mast.

Re: Northern Lights - overheating

Just curious, how does a guage "trigger the cooling system when the generator needs it"?

Re: Aquila 44 coming out of charter / Any suggestions?

I would not count on getting usable fuel in Luperon, DR. We were there four years ago and the only diesel fuel available had been purchased by the locals from Haitian fishing boats. We strained it...

Re: Key West sailing advise

It's possible that a captain from the charter company could spend a day or two on the boat with you and then sign you off for the rest of the week. It's worth asking.

Re: Yanmar Saildrive Burning Zincs!

I replaced a starter and 2 months later my SD50 zink was badly corroded- it previously lasted 2 years. I tested for voltage between the negative battery terminal and the engine block and found 0.046...

Re: St60+ wind and windch not working today

Did you check the top of the mast to make sure the wind instruments aren't dangling?

Re: Can I downgrade to OUPV?

A helia 44 is far less than 53grt. My Lagoon 410 calculates to 14grt

Re: Can I downgrade to OUPV?

Just curious, when you say your boat is 53 tons are you referring to your Helia 44?

Good point Lancerbye. Also try holding the key in the start position while wiggling the shifter handle

Re: "Healthy" compressor cycle times?

I had the same problem with my new frig unit, bought an Inkbird ITC-100 digital thermostat from amazon for $16. Now everything works great and I know what the temperature is without opening the door.

Re: AB cold machine, new install, wierd cycle times...

I put in a similar system about three months ago and had the same cycling problem. Tech support said that the analog thermostats are problematic. I replaced it with an Inkbird digital that I...

Re: Can't get the main to the top.

I had a similar problem with my L410. The sail would abruptly stop about ten feet from the top. Dropped the sail and got out the binoculars, one of the screws that holds the track in place had backed...

Re: Day sail anchorages in Narragansett Bay

They have been trying to get the guides to remove that. There aren't any public moorings in Potter's cove, infact there is a fine for using a mooring without the owners consent.

Re: Day sail anchorages in Narragansett Bay

I would avoid Goddard Park beach. The boat wakes, from boats entering and leaving Greenwich Cove, will have you thrashing at anchor all day. Also, "white balls with blue bottoms" describes most of...

Re: Mercury or Tohatsu outboard motor?

Nick, what size is your Tohatsu?
Tohatsu only crosses over on the small Mercury outboards, not sure what the cut off is but I do know that the 9.8 Merc is a Tohatsu.

Re: greenhorn bottom job questions

I used extra on my power boats for many years and was very happy with it but I've never used 66. I believe 66 is ok in brackish water. Interlux has good customer support, I'd give them a call.

Re: greenhorn bottom job questions

If the boat is going to be in fresh water, I would check with Interlux before using Micron66 on it. I have heard that fresh water will render 66 useless but don't take my word for it, check with the...

Re: Problem with Removal of Lower Unit - 15HP Yamaha Enduro 2 Stroke

Had the same problem with a 4hp Evinrude last week. The drive shaft was frozen to the crankshaft at the spline, it did not give up easily!

Re: Tohatsu 2-stroke dies shortly after running at WOT, hard to restart

Jetx, try running it again at WOT, when it stalls pull the spark plugs. If they are dry it’s starving for fuel if they are damp it’s most likely a spark issue, if they are wet it’s flooding. Spark...
