Its not TDS. 1/4" might be a lot. I think mine is 1/8" or 3/16". But everywhere i replaced caulking, TDS held well. Gflex will fail under the sun. I tried it on small cauges, and holes.

Don't want to mess with turning off AIS.
I have digital Yacht 150 that sends data to a PC running OpenCPN.
I will re-route that to ST8002 NMEA port.
OpenCPN is already getting same AIS/GPS...

Green/grey film will form on the inside. Raw water strainer is a better place to keep clean and use for visual inspection. I would get marine hard wall water hose rated for the purpose.
